That's my question and I'm sticking to it.

i lost 38 lbs on it and thought i would die. my head felt like there were rocks inside it, rubbing against each other.....if you are on it,it's hell to get off of........took me months of tapering. that's my story and i'm sticking to it.

I am on Effexor Xr, have been for about 4 1/2 months. I lost 18 pounds in the begining. I have had pretty good results and feel much better then I did even though I still have my down days. However, since feeling better, makes my appetite back to normal so I have gained my weight back. But the upside is, I'm feeling better then i was before I started it. I have heard that there are bad withdraws with Effexor. I wouldnt know cause I'm still on it. Different meds react differently for everyone. If you read the side effects, it says weight loss is a side effect. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it. LOL

I've had the same effect as Jen, weight loss in the beginning, but then gained it back after awhile. But as she also said, everybody reacts differently. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it too!!!

Hi Wants,
Effexor is considered "weight-neutral", but many people complain of early weight loss and then some weight gain. I have been on it for over five years now and I would say that any weight I have gained is due to lack of exercise and too many calories! That's my story and its sticking to my hips and thighs!!!

I've been on Effexor for awhile now and never gained weight.
The only drug i've been on that made me gain was Remeron.

I'm off it now and down to 105lbs.

So I would have to say no it doesn't cause weight gain, not with me anyways.
