I went to the ER last night for a dental infection. The swelling was creeping up quickly and annoying, so I poked it myself with a toothpick first to start some draining. I went in and she gave PenVK 500mg tid x7days. I have been so extremely tired! This isn't a typical thing that happens with me taking antibiotics--it's never happened before. I slept in all morning and had to force myself to get up in the early afternoon. I park somewhere I don't really get disturbed much, so it was no problem. I might still be sleeping if I actually had a home, so being homeless can be good in a way? Has anyone else found that penicillin or antibiotics make them tired?

Some info here, hopefully other folks can chime in with their knowledge and experience also.

Is it possible that the infection itself is causing the fatigue? Also, I've experienced fatigue after a stress passes, once I make it to the appointment etc., I'm ready to collapse after.

Can you call and check with any health care folks on this? With it being an unusual level of fatigue for you, worth talking with a nurse.

Good luck and fast healing to you,
Sarah

Some do have that listed as a possible side effect, I've read that on some of the past prescriptions safety data sheet that accompanies your med when you pick it up at a pharmacy.
Also when our bodies are battling infection, it is a normal response to feel tired.
Be sure to take all your meds for this, these infections can really nasty, even travel to sinus cavities.
I send you good wishes for a speedy recovery.

Take care now,

DE
