Hi,

I just started taking meds for the first time and my doc put me on Lexapor...I was wondering how well it works. Has it helped other people here on PC?

Is it Lexapro?
I am on it at the moment it that's what you mean. It just stabilises the ups and down. The first week I had some weird side effects - felt like I was on speed - everything moved to slowly for me and then it settled down. Love how I feel at the moment (been 4 months) but that's me coming to the end of the depression as well as the meds.
Have a look at the other threads... there are a few about Lexapro.

I love lexapro. It has worked for me better than any other AD and I have been on quite a few. I didnt like the sexual side effects so I went down from 20mg to 10mg and added in wellbutrin 150mg. This is an excellent combo for me.
Thanks for this!

I don't want to scare you since this is a rare side effect (and could be somewhat coincidental) but Lexapro made me suicidal. I was 14 when I started it, and the only times I've heard of Lexapro doing it is when prescribed to teenagers. It did work for a few months, and it's very possible that I was already somewhat suicidal when I started it, but this med actually caused me to go through with an attempted (and failed) suicide, which left me in a coma for 2 days...

I REALLY hope you have better luck with it!!!!!! (Hope I didn't scare you )

I have taken it for 5 years and it has been helpful, especially for anxiety.

i liked lexapro. it really helped with the depression, but the only drawback was it made me really-unfunctional tired all the time. i was on it for a year and a half and was taking the stimulant Dexadrine to help me stay awake. that was the only side effect i had though, and since then i have tried celexa, cymbalta, pristiq, and zoloft, and none of them seem to help as much with depression as lexapro did. unfortunatly, i moved and my new dr. wont prescribe the dexadrine, so lexapro is out of the question

I think I might be having the same problem as you. I'm really tired all the time and yawn every two seconds. Yesterday I slept for about 15 hours. So should I also ask my MD for Dexadrine or something simliar to it. I've been drinking lots of coffee to try to stay awake and it hasn't been helping that much.

I had/have a lack of libido since being on Lexapro but it's not really affecting me because I haven't got a partner at the moment... The one time that I have had sex it was disapointing because I just couldn't get into the mood that I normally would have been in..

That was the sexual side effect I had. No desire for sex and it was harder to have an orgasm. My body wasnt working the way it has. But I dont have that anymore since I went down to 10 and am taking wellbutrin 150 (which I heard ups your desire for sex).

I was tired on lex and then took it at night instead. Then i couldnt sleep and went back on it during the day and it doesnt make me dizzy and sleepy because my body is used to it now. But I had that drowsy thing from lex for a looooong time. It went away now.
Thanks for this!

I have completely lost my libido as well and also have trouble reaching orgasm (I'm at 20 mg) but also had the same trouble at 10. I am also finding though that it's not really helping with my depression, so it may not be the right med for me for many reasons. I've been on it now for 5 months and initially I started to get better but relapsed about 2 months ago. I am seeing a new doc this weekend so fingers crossed...otherwise, no real side effects.
Thanks for this!
