^^ Maybe that can be of some help to you. It has lots of information about the drug, including side effects alittle more than halfway down the page. Wish you the best on the new medication!

Are you talking about Celexa? On the top of the home page is a meds section, click on it for extra info. than what you might find here, from us, but feel welcomed to ask here too, of course. Cipralex
From my personal experience, it worked well for me, I didn't experience fatigue like you can from many meds. But like the old saying goes, meds do not effect everyone the same all the time. Celexa seemed to address my depression better than Zoloft, Prozac, Wellbutrin, Effexor, and Remeron. After 2 years it pooped out, which is not uncommon with SSRI's, I had also been on a mood stabilizer too, at the same time. When my pdoc suggested I switch to a different mood stabilizer, which has addressed my bipolar, depression, I have had no need for anti-depressants.
I hear Lexapro is a "cousin" med of Celexa, and some have a better or worse outcome than Celexa. One thing I remember, when my former pdoc and I were working at the right dose of Celexa (which we gradually increased) for me, we went up a little more and I had to go back to my original dose, cause I had nerve/muscle twitches come on once in awhile, rare, but enough to bring my attention to it.
When you recieve any meds. pharmacies and/or your doc should have a safety data sheet with the prescription, which informs the person taking it of any side effects they may experience, it will also explain which are just temporary and which side effects you should contact the prescribing doctor about. Some people can experience dry mouth, which a sugarless hard candy or gum can nix that feeling. Some people may experience fatigue, insomnia, decreased or increased appetite, diarhea, constipation, oh the list goes on, but does not mean you will experience all of them, drug companies have to inform people on all the reported side effects that have been documented, even on OTC medications.
If you are just starting with this med. don't be dissapointed if it doesn't work fast, most take about 2 to 3 weeks before you start to notice symptoms of depression lifting. Also don't give up hope if this medication isn't for you, there are many ones, that are available that have worked wonders for thousands of people.
Working along with your pdoc, following medication dosages, and keeping appts. makes all the difference.
I wish you lots of luck and patience with this.
If Larry Hoover drops in, he will be able to give you more, technical info. I hope I was of some help to you.
Please take care now,
DE

Yes, DE is right, it is a cousin of Celexa.

Here's a pretty good link.

I take escitalopram which, as far as I understand it, is cipralex or at least closely related At the moment it is working OK for me. I have usually needed to take a tricyclical a-d in conjunction with an SSRI when my depression is bad (when I am stable I jsut use the SSRI). I haven't noticed any side effects of the escitalopram.
