yeah there are huge warnings for it...some people though are just not prone to getting them. never got them, but most everyone i knew on topa did. even during the end when i hardly drank water (which is bad don't fo it) i didn't get any. Remember to drink lots of gaterade or some type of performance drink for the electrolytes, cause topa upsets the ph balance in your body, and because of the potassium, since topa depletes your potassium. i ate at least one banana a day on top of drinks with potassium in it.
if you like molasses if yo have a few tablespoons of it a day it will get your levels right. of course you can take vits but i don't take anymore pills than need be.
it helps with the limbs tingling and falling asleep.
always watch out for acidosis
with topa you just gotta make sure you have a well rounded diet. it will help make you take care of your body more
also watch out for temp. control.
ok i'll stop now, i can keep going....i think i have done more research on topa than any other drug it was a love hate relationship when i was on it

wow - I never knew this. My sis is on Topomax and has come down with kidney stones twice already. Her doctor told her to drink lemonade every day to help stop the formation of new ones. She gets very confused on it too.

I never knew this either - not about the kidney stones or the potassium.

racee - I'd be interested in hearing more about what you know about topomax?

I've been on it for 4 years and haven't had any problems so far (fingers crossed) other than it has pretty much killed my appetite... so I don't eat much/follow a healthy diet anymore.

One of the psychiatrists I saw after some pretty severe med interactions referred to Topamax as "dopamax"....
