Acts nothing like the regular stuff for me. The bad: no energy, little motivation, less concentration... mainly I just feel tired and uninterested in getting anything done, at all. The good: no more anxiety, no more panic episodes, and less irritability.

I don't understand, they both use the same active ingrediant (amphetamine salts) right? I thought Adderall XR was just more controlled in it's release into your system. I thought the amount released per hour was just a little bit lower, and stretched out.

I feel like I'm withdrawing from Adderall, even though I still take the same dose -- the only change being that 20 of the 40mg that I take is the XR version. Which is ok -- the combo seems to cure my anxiety -- but it means half of my day is USELESS to me, since I'm not able to be productive after taking the dose of XR.

Anyone else with a similar experience? Why are these two versions of Adderall so different in effect? I know I'm not the only one who notices a difference, but I didn't think XR would be less effective as a whole.

adline,

I just read another post that linked to an article on Adderall XR. Judging by the graph on the page, Adderall XR is supposed to work exactly as you describe: A 20mg dose of Adderall XR should be equivalent to two 10mg doses of regular Adderall spaced 4 hours apart.

Here's the graph:

Here's the page:

And here's the other post I got this all from:
