hey you're no failure!!! It means your body works better with less than the "average" adult so that means you an over achiever! I Take 350mg Wellbutrin XR AND Lexapro um 40mg? I was first just on the 20mg of lexapro but wasn't getting better so they doubled my dose and put me on the highest level of wellbutrin right away. When I was starting it I felt like I was floating and my body was buzzing. Ever since I've started the Wellbutrin I've been having really real really odd dreams and my hands still shake quite a bit. But I'm happier and the side effects are worth it.

My hands are shaking so bad today I couldn't even put on lipstick or eyeliner straight. My head keeps jerking now. I almost hit a guy who was crossing the street to go into the bank. I slammed on the brakes just before I hit him. Luckily I was going slow. I'd just pulled out of the bank parking lot.
No way are these side effects tolerable, not for one day, not a week until they diminish. I ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN!!! So don't anyone else tell me to hang in there and it'll get better.

Can you up your dose more slowly? Like 50mg a week until you get to 300mg? Doubling seems like it would be a hard adjustment. Have you called your doctor? Maybe they might have a suggestion.

I managed to feel better on 150, and since I can't take 300 the doctor will want to switch me to something different.
Shirley, if I were you, I would stop taking it and call my p-doc. The dose sounds too high for you. It is also known to cause seizures. Just because Wellbutrin works for some doesn't mean it will for you. Your doc may keep you at 150 if that's where you felt better. There is no rule about how much you have to take. Please call! Erin, this is the full daily dose, 150, 300, and 450 is all it comes in, and you can't cut it because it has that shell that has to release the dose over 24 hours.
I called Human Services and talked to my case worker. Doctor is only there on Tuesday, and he told me not to stop taking it, but to cut back to 150 if I couldn't handle 300. I just want to go to bed until this wears off. I'm freaking out.

Oh crap, Shirl Thats' what I meant, to stop taking the extra 150 mgs. Big sorry about that. I'm glad you called. Petunia |

Man, I'm sorry if I'm sounding like an absolute retard about cutting back the dose. I'm just freaking out at how this is affecting me. It's even hard to stand up. I've got another 14 hours of this dose to go. I can't do anything about it until tomorrow when the next dose is due, though. I have to ride this out until then.

Shirley, I'm sorry to hear this is so hard on you. It's a big leap in doseage to go from 150 to 300 mg, and I'm surprised that there isn't a dose small enough to let you take it in stages.
There is an option.....to use the regular Wellbutrin (immediate release), and take 75 mg three times a day. Double up on one of those doses to get you to 300 mg, and then go back to the XL format. Just an idea, which would let you see if Wellbutrin is the right drug for you, while allowing you to more gradually adapt to the increased dose. Good luck, Lar P.S. If you have a benzo at hand, it might take some of the edge off how you're feeling. |

Thanks Larry. No benzos on hand. Benadryl will have to do.
Just called the pharmacy to see if this dose is going to stick with me longer than 24 hours. He said no. Thank goodness. My left ring finger is starting to take on a life of it's own. It doesn't want to go in the direction I need it to. ![]()

Ugh, I'm gonna puke. In fact, I already did. My head hurts, my neck hurts, I can't get comfortable at my desk, my stomach is queasy.

I'm feeling better today, still not 100%. I dropped back to 150 mg this morning.
I checked my blood pressure at the pharmacy today. First it said it was out of range and couldn't measure it. Second try showed 84/64. Normally I'm around 116/80, so that's quite a drop for me. No wonder I've been feeling woozy and dizzy. Kind of strange, because this stuff has the possibility of raising BP. ![]()

Did you speak with the pharmacist about this? And as for the BP machine,, I think it's out of whack! Get your bp checked somewhere more reliable to be sure ? TC

Yep, talked to the pharmacist. He said it would have been out of my system within 24 hours, by the time the next dose was due.
I'm feeling fine now, thank goodness. Pre-Wellbutrin I had zip, zero, zilch energy. On 150 mg I actually feel like what's probably considered "normal." I was just finishing up some work and was ready to ask the kids if they wanted to play a card or board game, but my daughter's buried in a book and my son asked to go to a friend's house. Oh well, at least I actually felt and wanted to do something besides plop on the couch.

I felt pretty OK most of the day. I stopped at LensCrafters to get my new contacts. I started feeling headachy right afterwards. Thought it was the prescription change.
Now I feel shaky, lightheaded, sick to my stomach, and vision is so-so. I want off this medication roller coaster. I have to get up from my chair to go to bed, but I'm afraid I'll pass out when I do.

Grumble, grumble, grumble. I had a reply typed up and the server ate it.
Anyway, I stopped at my GP's office this a.m. and had the nurse check my BP. It was 90/60. Saturday on the machine it was 84/64. That's a 30-point drop in my average systolic reading. Diastolic is roughly the same. Just checked my pulse; that's not exceptionally low compared to usual. It was 72. Usually, it's around 80, so not a horrible drop there. I left a message with my case worker to let my prescribing physician know about the BP when he comes in tomorrow. I can't find any self measures to take in the meantime other than 'avoid sudden postural changes.' What if you're woozy just sitting still? ![]()

I don't know how you can function with such low blood pressure. Way up yonder in Wi., you ought to have lots of cheese around. Maybe you can get your blood pressure to come up with some old cheddar? The tyramine in the cheese does raise your BP somewhat.
I'm sorry this is such a drag for you. Lar |

I can't stand this. Still waiting to hear my prescribing doc's recommendations. I can't just stop the medication. I might not hear anything until Friday at my T appointment.
I'm constantly tired and can't wake up. I checked my pulse at my wrist and my neck. Both times I checked, it started getting harder and harder to feel around the 10 second mark and I started getting dizzier from that little bit of pressure. What the heck?! Maybe it's the Ambien. I took my last dose last night. Guess I'll see how tomorrow goes.
