I just took my first dose today. Is it normal to feel a bit disoriented right away? I stood up to walk around and I felt like if I'd taken Benadryl, a little off balance. Not anything to be alarmed about, it just feels strange.

I had mentioned to the doc that I had nightmares and poor sleep on Prozac so I stopped it after a week. He said it was just my brain adjusting to the medication. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt that this is the same thing.

I just switched to Lexapro after taking Wellbutrin XL for a month. It made me feel really weird. I told my doctor that it felt like I could feel the space between my brain and my skull. Just really weird feeling and I felt almost like I was high. Mood wise the Wellbutrin did fine, I felt like I was high so it felt good. The Lexapro is doing well for me now. Getting used to it. Sleep is one of my biggest problems. I don't go into the last stage of sleep so I stay extremely tired. I wake up several times during the night and can't go back to sleep. But the Lexapro is working well and I fall asleep and stay asleep most of the night. If I wake up I fall back asleep pretty quick. Just getting used to it still. When I first started it, it made me pretty sleepy during the day. But that is getting better. It's in the same family as Prozac, but the Lexapro has had less side effects for me. I have had some dreams with Lexapro, but no nightmares as of yet or sleep walking in my case. Hope you find something that works for you and you can feel half way normal with. Good Luck, Monty

That space between the brain and skull feeling is what I'm getting too. Like, I'll turn my head and it feels like it takes my brain a while to catch up. I'm getting used to it now. It's not bad enough to want to stop it. I'm not as tired as I was on Celexa either. I could stay in bed for 10 hours and still feel like a zombie. Now I'm getting 4 solid hours with Ambien, and the Wellbutrin gives me some daytime energy, MAJOR difference.

I'm curious to see what it'll be like once the Celexa is out of my system by Wednesday and I double the Wellbutrin dose. Feeling woozy headed - Wellbutrin XL?

I don't know if it's the Ambien letting me sleep or the Wellbutrin giving me energy, but....

I didn't have the weird head feeling at all today. Guess I'm adjusting to it. I did have a killer headache though. Could have been the new glasses and nothing to eat for a long time. Feeling woozy headed - Wellbutrin XL? It's better now.

I'm still not tired. Feeling woozy headed - Wellbutrin XL?

Took the first 300 mg dose today about 4-5 hours ago. Well, I haven't had a seizure yet and my head is still on top of my head. My hands aren't shaking and I can still see. And my GI system is still intact.

I take 450 mg of it along with various other meds. If I happen to drink more than a cup of coffee i get the shakes! Other than that it seems to do its job (or its PART of the job I should say....;-)

The doc said he might go up to 450 for me too.

I've had a major Feeling woozy headed - Wellbutrin XL? moment this week after therapy (written in my blog) so maybe I can stay at 300.

The woozy head feeling started to kick in. Feeling woozy headed - Wellbutrin XL? This will pass, this will pass, this will pass. It's the same way I felt when I first started it last week and it went away. Still, it feels funny.

Jumping into the discussion since I was recently put on Wellbutrin and having the same side effects. Feeling woozy headed - Wellbutrin XL?

My Dr. put me on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg (was in a deep depressive episode) along with my other two anti-depressants. I felt GREAT when I took it in the a.m., but by mid-afternoon I was feeling physically agitated and very emotionally irritable. So I stopped it after about 3 days.

When I reported back to my Dr. he switched me to Wellbutrin SR - taking 150 mg in the morning and another dose in the afternoon. Now I'm getting the exact same side-effects you're talking about, Wi - hand tremors, overall "weird" feeling, the strange feeling in my head, feeling kind of "hyped up" etc.

I just began it on Tuesday so, since I'm currently off work, going to try and hang in there with it to see if the effects go away.

Thank you for your input, fayerody - how long did it take you to get adjusted to Wellbutrin?

Two days on 300 mg. Two days of no decent sleep, even with Ambien. Bizarre dreams if I do manage to nod off. Same thing happened when I was tried on Prozac and quit it after a few days. Doctor said that was my brain adjusting to it, so I'm going to hang in there this time. I'm not liking it though.

I'll have a queasy feeling stomach and want to eat, but it's not hunger that's causing it, so food doesn't help. Maalox isn't working either.

I feel OK in the head most of the day. Around 5:00 I get feeling like I can't stay vertical, head's wobbly, tired. When I go to bed, can't sleep. This sucks.

I snapped at my daughter this morning. Can't blame it on the meds though. This issue has been building and building and I can't take the stress anymore. The side effects are just one more thing to stress me out too.

So I'm reading the package insert just now. 300 mg is the usual dose, but it says if you're having any of about 100 different reactions, to call your doctor. But the ones I'm having are considered the usual ones. It even says worsening of your depression is common.

I felt good on 150, I could sleep, I had energy, I had motivation, I felt like I could finally tackle some of my problems and frustrations, I felt NORMAL. On 300, I want to crawl into bed and never come out. I'm back to feeling hopeless and helpless and depressed.

WTF?!

Hey wi, have you called your doc about how your feeling? My thinking on everything is if it worked on a lesser dose then see about going back to the lesser dose again and see if you feel better. No sleep is no good !! I feel so much better since switching off of the Wellbutrin XL. I had the same problem, I had a hard time getting to sleep. The med they switched me to made me really sleepy even during the day at first. But that has finually gotten better. But talk to the doc, you need your sleep more then anything. Good Luck, Monty

Just called the office. He's only in on Tuesdays.

He gave me two sample bottles of 150 and said to go back to it if I couldn't tolerate 300. Guess that's what I have to do. I only have enough left for 7 days and I don't see him for another 12 days. Can't cut 300's in half because it's extended release.

If I feel good on 150s, and 300 is the "therapeutic" dose while 150 is only a "maintenance" dose, is this going to mean Wellbutrin doesn't work for me because I can't tolerate the "right" dose? I hope not.

Maybe it's the combination of therapy and a low dose of meds. I don't know. I don't even care right now. I just want to feel like I did a few days ago.

Called and left message at the County. Caseworker called back a few minutes ago. He said to cut back to the 150 and he'll talk to the doc on Tuesday. I have a T session on Thursday. He said I definitely shouldn't be taking 300 if I'm feeling this way.

The headaches and nausea and wooziness I can tolerate. The biting off heads and feeling like I could very easily hurt myself because of that, I can't.

Having the same problem with not being able to sleep here. Feeling woozy headed - Wellbutrin XL? Along with the other symptoms already mentioned. I'm feeling like I'm going to jump out of my skin!

Since I take 2 doses of Wellbutrin SR (150 mg each) I'm tempted to try just the morning dosage for a few days and see how that works.

(I like the comment about our bodies just having a hissy fit Feeling woozy headed - Wellbutrin XL?)

I keep reading how 300 mg a day of XL is the "usual" adult dose.

I feel like such a damn failure today because I can't tolerate 300. Like somehow I'm faking depression because I managed to feel better on 150, and since I can't take 300 the doctor will want to switch me to something different. I HAD side effects on 150, but not like this. Even the Ambien taken at night isn't getting rid of the insomnia. I ended up taking two Benadryl at midnight. Still couldn't sleep, but I must have dozed off somewhere in there because I had another creepy dream.

However, if you have liver dysfunction, it's not recommended to take more than 150 mg every other day, so less than 300 mg IS given to some people. I want to be one of those "some" people.

I'll say it again - I felt normal. I know it couldn't have been a total placebo effect. Bupropion is sold as a street drug because of the activating effect; it gives people a high. Well, I can't think of any people who would wait 4 weeks for a high, so some of the immediate effects had to have been real.

I'll just shut up now. Feeling woozy headed - Wellbutrin XL?
