Hi all,

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but I hope it's okay.

Does anyone take any vitamins along with meds? Do you think vitamins are helpful for you? Do you have a multi you use?

Thanks.

Elana

Hi Elana! I used to take a multi-vitamin, but when I was tested for Vitamin D it turned out my levels were super low, so that really made me think the multi-vitamin I had been taking was worthless. Now I take specific individual vitamins at a much higher dose than you would find in a multi-vitamin. I take several supplements and sometimes I do wonder if it's just a waste of money. I just don't know.....Some people swear by supplements, but I can't honestly say that I notice a big difference in how I feel, even though I do take a bunch of stuff. But I keep taking it anyway!!

Maybe you could get some blood tests to see if you are low in anything, for example, Vitamin D or B12, and if you are, you could take those supplements??

Yes, I take vitamins....a generic one usually and fish oil and vitamin C . Some people say with a proper diet you should not need vitamins. I am not sure any of us though has a "proper' diet with all the running around we do...

I take a good quality multi vitamin, with a high B complex. I also take double the recommended amount of fish oils a day. I was taking prescription strength vitamin D, but now my levels are normal. I think the vitamins make a difference, and I don't eat much so I probably really need them.

Yes, I take a multivitamin. Also, I was told to take Vitamin D because I'm close to osteoporosis. I take Vitamin B6. B12 has been recommended to me, also. I take Fish Oil, too. I will not take Statin drugs, so my primary care doc said maybe the fish oil could help my cardiac system.

Yes I take a multivitamin with iron because I have had issues with low iron. I've noticed with the vitamin I take that I don't have nearly as many colds as I used to. Other than that I don't really notice much of a difference.

I take calcium & magnesium because I don't have a lot of dairy in my diet and because my risperidone can decrease bone density.

I started taking vitamin D to help with the absorbtion of calcium, but noticed that it helps with my mood too.

I also take an Omega 3 fish oil, to help my brain and cardiovascular system.

These are basically the supplements that my dietician told me to take.

I know there are a few good brands out there. Does anyone have a brand they like?

Hello Elana!

Multivitamins taken along with AD meds is quite safe and should not cause any adverse reactions. However, it's always best to ask your pharmacist.
