Hi all, I'm writing in this forum because I wouldlike some advice. I live with my girlfriend and another couple who are close friends of ours. We all smoke marijuana although my girlfriend and I don't go mad, we know when to stop and it really doesn't effect our daily life in anyway, a quarter of an ounce of resin would last us between a month and 2 months depending on what we were doing. However, we're really worried about our housemates and don't know how to approach them about it, they never ever want to do anything other than sit in and smoke and watch TV, thats all, I know it has more to do with the amount htey are smoking, they had 3/4 of an ounce on this Friday just gone and we went away, when we returned yesterday (thats 4 days) they had smoked almost all of it, before that they smoked an ounce in just over a week. This is excessive usage I know and we're worried and frustrated with them as we seem to be losing the people they were before they started smoking this much. What can we do to hep them cut down? Can anyone offer any advice to us?

Hey Rippy - You're right - that sounds extremely excessive, not to mention expensive. It's not even fun or relaxing to be THAT high.

Why do you think they're doing it? Do you think it's truly addiction, or are they locked into some kind of fatalistic mindset? How old are they? Are they holding jobs?

I have more questions than I do suggestions. You can't MAKE them stop, obviously. I like Jennie's suggestion, though. The only other thing is I would suggest, if it were my friends, is to talk to whoever they're getting it from. A real dealer wouldn't give a hoot, but if they're getting it from a friend, then maybe the friend could back you on an intervention.

My last suggestion is that you get yourself and your girlfriend out of that house. I don't know where you live, but if you're in a city, then you really are putting yourselves at risk to live in a house that has that quantity laying around, since smoking that much is probably smell-able outside of the house. If they get busted, then so do you unless for some reason, they take the blame for all of it (which is not likely to happen if they are feeling panicked).

Good luck,
LMo
