hey all, just wondering if it's safe to take ephedrine for weight loss purposes while on 20mg of celexa...or if anyone has an experience with ephedrine while on anti-depressants, thanks =]

Ephedrine isn't safe, period. It's not worth the risk.

Talk to your doctor about the weight issue, because there are drugs that they're using now along with SSRIs to mitigate weight gain. You're much better off trying one of those.

Lemme say it again -- it ain't the ephidrine and Celexa that's a problem. It's the ephidrine at all. That stuff is cardiotoxic, and just not safe.

Is the Celexa working for you? If yes, then talk to your doctor about Topomax or Glucophage to address your weight gain.

The SSRIs cause weight gain for a lot of people. If you've gained weight since starting Celexa, the Celexa is likely to be causing your weight gain. Your doctor can help you address that weight gain.

And, if the Celexa is working for you, stay on it. Address the weight gain with your doctor.

When I was on Celexa, I remember taking Stackers alot for weight loss...(which I now regret because of permanent problems), anyway, yes they do have side effects together, personally for me I noticed I was beginning to crash after the Stacker wore off....without the Stacker.....when it was just Celexa, I felt regular...steady.
I hope this helps.

I think the real point here is that ephedrine under any circumstance is dangerous like Genevieve said. It just isn't safe & if you care to have heart problems....keep taking that....it is your choice, but knowing what the end result can be.....it's like people who smoke trying to say that it doesn't cause lung cancer. Yes, it may not, but if it does...you will be sorry. There are antidepressants that do cause weight loss.....I know because when I was taking Prozac & Wellbutrin, I got down to 83 pounds before anyone noticed there was a weight problem.

There are answers to the weight problem that won't cause you heart problems but it is YOUR CHOICE to continue taking the chance even though you know what the possible end result can be.

My mother ignored the fact that she had a small lump until it ended up the size of my fist, being stage IV cancer & she died from her choice to ignore it. There are many times when we end up having to deal with the consequences of our choices....but like everyone seems to say, "it won't happen to me!!!!!".

Just think about what you are being told here by everyone not just me.
