I was delivered the script for Geodon today and I'm worried. I'm worried about being tired, heart problems and all the other problems that come with anti-psychotics. I've been somewhat distorted and dissociated lately. Is there anyone out there having any luck with this one???

I've been on Geodon for the past year or so. It has been a lifesaver for getting me stabilized and keeping me on track.

The only side effect I have is hand tremors. It is annoying but the trade off is worth it. I wish you lots of luck and please don't worry about this one.

I was taking Geodon for about 6 months. It worked well for dissociation, it did make me extremely sleepy - falling asleep driving to work sleepy, so pdoc cut it back. And then it was manageable.

I don't take it anymore because the hand tremors were too bad - I am a surgical assistant - and it was seriously noticeable and I couldn't perform my job.

Good Luck

Thank you for the reassurance. I would be okay with hand tremors. I'm hoping it will help stabilize me.

Then you should be fine. I don't know what I'd do without my Geodon. I've had no weight gain either, just so you know.

I'm been taking Geodon for a couple of months.
I was getting really tired, so my doctor cut my dosage down. It keeps me stabilized and what Planningtoexist said, it doesn't make you gain wait like alot of the other meds do.

I had a terrible time on Geodon. I only took it for about 4 days. I had extreme dizziness & extreme fatigue--so much that I feel asleep at work & when driving home. The shoulder of the road was gravel & the noise of the tires on it woke me up. I could have had a major accident. BUT I know or have heard of several people who do well on it. Everyone is unique. I had to try medications for a year before I found the right combination for me.

Update: I stopped taking it awhile back. I think it made me hypomanic and then I thought I was feeling heart pains, since this drug can interfer with heart rhythm. I'm pretty sure it was not in my head, but I also was popping laxitives at the time (little eating disorder here). So now I'm back to square one, I need an anti-psych, that won't pack on pounds, to help me with distorted thoughts and some bodily dissociation feelings?

Pdoc had brought Abilify up when we were deciding on Geodon. She did mention that it didn't have the weight gain effect (although I've seen some online think it packed on lbs.) She was concerned because of my tendency to get drug induced hypomania. She thought Abilify might be activating some people (great--it is suppose to treat bipolar as well at thought disorder). But I might ask her about it again. I'd hate to think of going back to a class 1 antipsych with all their sides...
