I went off it cold turkey when they were trying to determine if it caused my physical illness, and I got the dreaded "brain zaps" -- I hope you can find a way to get some. Do you have a pdoc who can give you samples?

I don't know if my experience is useful to you, or not, but I faced something similar not very long ago. My pharmacist told me that if the approval came through within a week of filling the prescription, he would give me my money back, and process the drug cost the regular way. In effect, I loaned them the money for a couple of days, until the red tape could get sorted out. Maybe you could ask your pharmacist about that?

What would be way cool is having central places where drugs that aren't needed could be collected from those who won't need them, and used to cover people in your situation. Like the penny dishes some places have at the checkout counter. I know, too many concerns about safety, etc......but I bet you I've got some Effexor around here somewhere, and I couldn't tolerate it. It seems like a shame that it will go to waste.

thanks for your post.

I found one more, so that takes me until at least sunday.

I literally do not have a cent to my name at the moment as im still waiting for Employment Insurance to kick in.

Yes, I think thats a fabulous idea. I bet tons of people come off these drugs or arte changed and have like months left that just get discarded.

Its really too bad.

Someone told me to call the salvation army tomorrow, so im going to try that.

I heard my GP tell someone that she has heard of such a thing too.
Wow! Such a thing like that would be great, there have been so many times docs had changed mom's meds (not psychiatric kind) that it was ashame, lucky for her she is subsidized, but the unused pills would help a lot of others.
I've had this experience with psych.meds. and also thought it was ashame. In my case, one of my brothers was able to use them. If anyone hears of a central drug type depot, it would be a good thing to post.

I have almost three months' worth of Celexa and I can't take it. It's a shame I don't know anyone locally that I could give it to. I'm pretty sure it's a federal offense to send drugs through the mail (like from me to someone else). What will happen

Rainbowzz, I sure hope you can get some help ASAP. (((((((((((Rainbowzz)))))))))))

When I've had a supply of samples left from something I subsequently got taken off of, I just brought them back to my pdoc the next time I saw him. Invariably they aren't ready to expire for another several months, and somebody else can use them then.

I wish there was a drug clearinghouse too, for times like this!

This is a prescription bottle, though, not samples. What will happen

I read that Xanax works well when not taking Effexor. Are you on any other meds as well? Do you have another doc you have seen that may have samples of it for you? Your post is the number one reason I tend to be non-compliant with my meds.

Thats the plan for today.

My doctor works out of a walk in clinic and there are usually three other doctors on rotation. Im going to make an appointment to go in this evening and see if any of the other doctors can give me even one sample pack, that should do me until next week anyways What will happen

Yesterday the money problems overtook me a little, now that Ive slept on it, I feel a little better footing on this.

Larry Hoover has also given me some excellent ideas via pm

(THANK YOU LARRY)

You all are so great.

I def think I shouldnt come off it cold turkey, as I have problems if I even take it a few hours off each day I get heart palpitations and skittishness. So, I will find a way. And thats all there is to it.

Chery, I do have clonazepam 0.5's and Ativan 0.5s - clonaze for the panic attacks and ativan only for sleep because it makes me very very drowsy.

I do try to stay away from the clonaze and ativan as much as possible, just cause I know when I first started having bad panic attacks I had to take clonaze for a couple months straight and it was pretty uncomfortable, though not terrible, to wean off them after.
