Why not just stop it? See if you feel better. You can always restart. You are taking a lot of other stuff. Last in first out.

The reason I do not stop: if I do and then restart later, the weight loss effect will not be present. It is a tricky med in that regard.

But I am taking half the dose as of today. We'll see if that helps.

You've been taking so little and for so short a time, I hardly think your body has noticed it. Your body is not a computer. People take up to 800 mg. The possible dose is up to 1600 mg but I think anyone would be a zombie by then. I couldn't go over 400 and stay awake for any part of the day. 25 mg is like taking a Tic-Tac. But you do have all those other meds. I know the computer cross-checks, but it can only check for what's been tested.

Before I started on it, I was totally fine, physically and mentally. No complaints.

I was on topamax for a while. it's one of the meds that helped in causing me to lose 70 pounds in 3 months and become so dehydrated (because I'd be sick any time I ate or drank anything) that I had to have IV fluids for an entire week, plus vitamins and stuff to get my body back to some normalcy. Not a drug I'd ever take again.

Had a pdoc after that refer to it as Dope-amax

Drugs.com lists a "major interaction" warning between Geodon and topamax. I dont know how relIable that Is, but it does show dizziness as an issue and it is the highest level of warning it gives. You don't want to have a stroke in Europe, your insurance probably won't even cover you. Sorry that's definitely an Italian thing!

Oh my goodness, Hankster, thanks, and I do not even have insurance. I will call the p-doc tomorrow about it.

Nicole: I, too, find myself dehydrated which defeats the migraine prevention purpose because my #1 migraine attack trigger is dehydration, and I have had three attacks while on Topamax entirely due to dehydration.

And topamax is "hard on the kidneys" whatever that means so you must drink a lot of water with it or risk kidney stones. And your amitriptyline is excreted renally. And the Geodon is excreted thru urine so....

How horrible! I barely drink anything because I am nauseated! Thank you, I will force myself to drink as much as I used to drink pre-Topamax.

well, feeling of unwellness can be psychological as well.

But since it started with taking this med and you basically take it just like "diet pill"... I think it's better to drop it, because it doesn't sound as worth it.

also... you mentioned not losing weight atm... could be because you changed your eating/excercise dramatically and body might be in starvation mode.

I am not losing any weight. I am barely eating yet losing no weight. I am taking it for migraine prevention as well, not just as a diet pill.

being psychologically dizzy - I doubt. As you say, it started wit this thing, so there is a clearcut cause-and-effect r/s.

But the GP said to wait it out and may be the dizziness and feeling unwell will go away. That is what she wrote to me.

So I have reduced the dose and will wait it out.

And now I do not know what has caused anorgasmia again - this beastly thing, biking, or stress, because they all started around the same time.

And of all side effects, if it is a side effect, anorgasmia is clearly the worst.

Someone on here has had anorgasmia due to Topamax and it went away after a few months, so for now I am following her advice to just wait it out.

Feeling better on half the dose (tiny dose now - the smallest possible dose). Still only half-hedonistic about food - went on a date to my favorite Greek restaurant and only half-enjoyed the food and ambience, at best. But, at least one half is there. Not dizzy anymore - can stand for prolonged periods of time. Remains to be seen in regards to orgasms.

I also have a suspicion that this vicious thing even at this tiny tiny dose raises my daily sleep requirements, and I am not prepared to handle that (I do not use an alarm clock as a matter of principle). If I confirm that it does that to the sleep requirements, I will discontinue this trial.

Better at half the dose but still not fully well. Right now, I hate this drug. I was absolutely fine mentally and physically before I started taking it. I felt great. No more. Will give it some more time hoping the side effects would go away, although I have little faith.
