Yap well I am trying to lose just a few pounds at the moment (nothing major, just seem to have tight jeans - oops).
I have been taking a couple of different types (only 4 days a week though, having wed/sat/sun off). One is a 'natural' one, called BodyBurn. It has caffeine and guarana and black pepper and some amino acids in it. The other comes from a friend in Chile and it is called Liponet (15mg). I am finding them SUPER effective, I also exercise half an hour every day. I only plan to use them short term and to be VERY careful about what I eat when I stop taking them. However, I'm not sure if I should take celexa while on them, I was told that they might not agree with each other. Last week wasn't a problem as i didn't take the ad'S at all (maybe bad but i don't like myself when i have some drinks and stuff on it, and the weekend was a VERY special occasion). Any thoughts? Also, who has had success with these type of things? I wouldn't want to use them long term but to shift some weight quickly they are very helpful. ![]() |

Make sure there isn't ephredrine in them.
Talk to your doctor. Some are really bad for you and will cause more harm then good. |

I would check with your doctor..... for the interaction between this medicine and weight loss pills could be fatal - for I have been there and my doctor refused to prescribe the weight loss pill for me once his computer pulled up a problem with the two being taken together.

What do you take the Celexa for..... and is it really worth the raging anger and wounded emotions that will emerge (again) with out the medicine - just to be thin?

In my case my body very quickly became immune to my diet pill of choice and the psychological addiction kicked in. 20 years later I am still trying to quit ...

50 mg d-norpseudoephedrine HCl in slow release form. I have taken up to 3 at a time with absolutely no effect. But that is probably because of such long-term use and as I said, I eventually became emotionally addicted that even after the weight loss has long since ceased to happen, I feel I can't do without them.
As long as you take yours with caution which you obviously are, there should not be any problems. I don't know about the celexa though as I took mine throughout all the ad's I was on. Please know that I am *not* suggesting you do the same ...

That's about 6-1/2 pounds. You should be able to lose that within 3-4 weeks fairly easily. I'm a real grazer and carb craver. If I can curb those two things, the weight comes off no problem.
The misconception about herbals is that because they're natural they're safe, but they aren't for everyone. I tried Metabolife (ephedra) and thought I was going to have a heart attack. I went out to mow the lawn one day and just that minimal exertion made my heart speed up, my vision went all white and my ears started ringing, I started sweating and thought I was going to pass out at the very least. I've used Sudafed (pseudoephedrine and not an herbal) to help keep me awake in the past. That's always helped curb my appetite because it gives me just enough energy to keep me focused on the task at hand instead of being tired, crabby, and wanting to eat nonstop. It's a pain in the butt to buy now because of federal regulations. You can't just go pick a box off the shelf and pay for it.

I posted some really good information in this post about healthy weight loss. http://forums.psychcentral.com/showf...5&o=31&fpart=1
Slow and steady wins the race. You are better off taking the weight off in a healthy manner rather than relying on a quick fix. Some of these pills can be really dangerous. Even the presciption ones can be and the herbal ones are completely unregulated so they are worse. They can do damage to your heart and other organs. If you can't take weight off in a healthy manner how do you expect to keep it off?

You should also take your own advice.

Gemstone,
Great advice, and having a thyroid function lab work up may help DSF, too! Again, I have a slight problem, why one won't take their AD's but yet risk unregulated substances? I'm not saying I haven't been guilty of that, but after going through this the hard way, I'd like to see others NOT go through the same hell or similar. I've been down the road of anorexia, then heavy, but not considered obese, now at 49 I have become too heavy. After going through the bogus weight loss stuff and even the "speed type substances (phenterimine) I'd hate for anyone to go through that, pdoc and even psychologists say it may have triggered my disorder(s). I beg anyone, don't put yourself through this, go to a nutritional counselar or talk with your docs. Life is so short, it can be great, don't mess it up if you can make that choice. If I had given more thought and saw what the future held, no way would I have done this to myself. I have boxes of clthes size(s) 6,8,and my 10's are getting tight. That was during my late 20's to 40 yo. When I was 18, the smaller sizes were too big,(2,4) sales people directed me to children's dept for girls. Menstruation ceased, hair thinned, and many not so pleasant things occurred. (sp?) One needs to look at the long term effects, my ignorance didn't, till nasty reality kicked in. It's up to y'all, what is most important, but realize, what may be in store for you. It's your very own decision. Just my 2 cents, and disregard my ramblings. Please take care, DE

I totally do ... just these can help the weight loss along
![]() I'd never use them on their own. DE ... I understand what you are saying ![]() I guess in this instance it's just something I would like to do ASAP ... I'm not sure quite where that weight crept up from! |

Hey Drunksunflower,
Is it really hot where you are? Because I find that when it's REALLY hot out and humid, I retain water. Also, around that not so fun time of the month. Sometimes I gain 5 lbs of water weight a month, then it goes away once "my friend" comes. ![]() Also, I have considered the herbal weight loss products myself, but have yet to see any without caffeine or stimulants. I am already over stimulated enough, and I can't handle caffeine! I agree that the best way is slow and steady, but I know what you mean about wanting it gone asap. Hope you find a solution! Take care. Sujin ![]() |

I have cut right back on wine too ... so hoping that will help as well ... I seem to be ok with caffeine based pills(but wouldn't take the bzp-based ones).
So need to fit into my jeans properly ... ![]() thank you for the advice ![]() |
