Does anyone have any ideas about securing your medications?

I have a family member whom I suspect of stealing antidepressants from another family member to sell on the street.

Hi Tazwert Securing your meds

Suggestions...

> Find "neutral ground" with ppl who care and respect this person and gently confront him or her about your concerns. No name calling or bringing up past events. Simply state your concerns and concrete evidence of your suspcions.

> Then act accordingly. But don't go in thinking that this person is going to openly admit to doing it. Just secure the meds in a safety deposit box ...etc

Hope this helps!

There are many lock boxes on the market varying in sizes.

When my child was home threatening to kill himself I locked my meds and his in my storage trunk I use for my therapy projects and so on.

Yeah, I'd lock the medicine up if I thought someone was stealing it.

Are there any online sites where we can find these lock boxes? I have thought about Amazon.com, but I feel there might be better sites.

Thanks for your responses.

Hi! I live alone and do not have anyone here usually besides myself, yet to be safe as I live in an apartment community and have in the past been paranoid about the maitnance people coming in and taking my prescription medication which also has recreational or street value, stealing them.

I found the only way for me to have peace of mind about the entire situation is to use a lock box. I found a lock box at the discount store that is big enough to hold several bottles of medications and a few important papers with two keys for under twenty US dollars. I feel better knowing that if any come up missing, it is most likely due to my own error on taking the meds...I know this way it is not anyone else, and have more minds rest over it all.

Good Luck - Kris

Something to remember is the size of the lock box... if it's small enough to be carried off in a bag, then that might not solve your problem. There are locking file cabinets, 2 drawer ones, that often are on sale for under $25... there you can also keep your check books, credit cards, and legal papers under lock and key...and the average person would not tote it away Securing your meds
