I'm actually not sure how long it took to "relapse", it was a long time ago. Maybe a month?
Although it was not a relapse. I had no history of depression before the med. I was taking it purely for anxiety.

Strange, maybe you should give herbal medicines a shot such as 5ht which increase serotonin naturally. |

I'm not sure the depletion happens just like the video says. It is possible. But it is also possible it occurs in another way. Nevertheless, tardive dysphoria is a real thing. The mystery is just why some get it and some not. Some people can take Zoloft for five years, stop and they are still well.

Serotonin depletion and brain damage doesn't equal death. Just because they are not psychologists/psychiatrists doesn't mean they aren't professionals You might have direct first hand experience which is limited to your own personal bias, but I doubt you know more than them about how the body and brain works.

Mabye this will help clear it up. According to this article, the deficency or depletion only occurs in people with a rare mutation in the tph2.

That makes sense. I wondered why some people can take SSRIs for years and not become harmed in any way.

Yea, it does. Ive taken Ssris off and on for 18 years and Im fine when I go off of them. I usually go back aftr a few years or if my stress & anxiety levels get too high for meditation. But Ive also seen people who use them for depression ir anxiety & are never the same again. But for the most part, people are fine.

Eh. I was on Zoloft for 3 years. Doubt I was allergic. Had an allergic reaction to Lamictal. Almost killed me!

I'm not sure I believe in this type of serotonin depletion either, but I'm waiting for more info. If it was totally true, I wonder why another SSRI is helping me with the damage caused by Zoloft?
In the early rat studies (in the 90s) some of the SSRIs killed off the norepinephrine receptors in rats. If it happens in humans it will affect you. The different transmitter substances seem to affect each other.

What I hated the most about SSRI besides the withdrawal period was this "side effect" they called "akathisia" or even worse was the "psychomotor agitation" that I got from taking stimulants when they said I had ADHD, between Wellbutrin and Concerta I also developed Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which took years of psychotherapy to overcome. I still have restless leg syndrome but I can't really blame the drugs cause that runs in my family.
Akathisia is basically this feeling of inner restlessness that makes it so you can't sit still, you dance around when you are standing and you can't stop moving, you can't sleep. While I was on Paxil I had 4 suicide attempts due to this horrible feeling coupled with the mental stress I was already subjected to living in an abusive home. It made me more angry, more depressed and made my anxiety so high the feeling was unbearable. I wanted to die, I am still to this day reluctant to take anything prescribed by a psychiatrist because of the poor management of my medication 11 years ago. I self medicate with herbal MAOI and find they work better for my attention, motivation and depression than anything I ever tried before. ![]()
