Hi,

I like coffee, but I hear that it is not friends with the B Vitamins. But I want to know the details. Should I simply not take it within an hour (or whatever) of taking a B Vitamin? Or does coffee suck all the B Vitamins out of my body, and I shouldn't drink it at all? I need my B Vitamins, so this is important for me to know.

Thanks Coffee and Vitamin B - Don't do it?

I use both, sometimes at the same time, never any problems.

I've done so for at least 20 some years.

The thing about nutrition and supplements, various people have various theories, and some folks will insist that what they believe is absolutely true. I myself have to take all the information and opinions in moderation.

Good luck!

I have pernicious anemia & take high doses (2000 mcq) of B-12 according to the instruction of my doc. I used to take monthly B-12 shots, but she read in a journal high doses orally can work & I've been tested & my levels are normal. I drink coffee (about 2-3) cups in the morning & take one of my B-12 pills then. The other I take at night. Coffee doesn't seem to be hurting the absorption for me.--Suzy

My husband is the coffee drinker in this family and he takes them together every day without any problems, but for those that have side effects just give your self about an hour in between drinking the coffee and taking the vitamins..... that should work, for I do that with my Rx medicines and I no longer have side effects like I did when I took them all at the same time.

Good Luck....

It takes Vitamin B to "digest" the coffee. Same as with beer :-) Doesn't matter when they're taken; if you haven't taken your B vitamin before you drink your coffee, it will just "use" what B you have in your body. That's the "problem." But taking additional, since B is a water soluable vitamin, if your pee turns yellow you have "too much" for your body to use so heck, I don't mind "wasting" mine on a little coffee in the morning, I need my coffee almost as much as I need my B Coffee and Vitamin B - Don't do it?

So take the Vit-B at a totally different time than the coffee..... it is not so important as to when one takes it, but more so that one TAKES IT...... I know some people that take their vitamins at night, that way it is in their system when they wake up in the morning.... Bright Eye and Bushy Tail.
