So, my insurance at my new job doesn't start till Dec. 1. I'll have to pay for one med in Nov. out of pocket, because it's generic, but pdoc has me well supplied with samples on the other two.

However, my prescription drug coverage, when it starts, is going to suck. I have to pay for the meds upfront, and then get reimbursed 2 or 3 weeks later. My Effexor is over $300 a month; so is the Geodon. I totally do NOT have $600+ a month to be paying upfront.

BUT, since I'll have prescription coverage, lame though it may be, I don't qualify for any of the free med programs. I've looked at Canadian pharmacies -- 90% of them have never heard of Geodon, and the savings on the Effexor aren't that tremendous.

Anybody got any ideas??

Thanks,
CB

hey Candybear, my husband's doc kept him in effexor for months when we were without insurance. Explain it to your doc. Also if some magical relative could gift you money for a month's worth of effexor you could keep turning it around and get reinbursed so that you are never really out that money? Does that make sense?

Hum, your Pdoc sounds really sweet! Well could you go without it for a bit and just stick with the other two??? You can also buy it off websites for a smaller price.

Hello a friend of mine told a story about a friend of hers writing a letter to the pharmaceutical company about the way the medication had helped her and the situation that she is under in getting themedication andthey sent her the medication.. You may want to write the company that distributes the medication regarding your issues with the up front costs, they may send you some medication to get you through for a while. you would need to look up Geodon on the internet to find out who distributes Geodon in your Country and write the CEO or administrator (NOT THE FREE MED PROGRAM) of the pharmaceutical company, and explain that you just are getting insurance and see if there is something they can help you with short term until you get established at work., you may get surprised and get medication up to a year.. the main issue is to be TRUTHFUL with the administrator, some of them are VERY understanding towards the cost of medications. Good luck I hope the best for you. take care Soidhonia

Rhapsody, I don't qualify for the free med programs. This wouldn't be an issue if I did! Thanks, though.
