Yes, I've taken APs for this, and they do work to some degree. At least, Stelazine worked for me to reduce anxiety thought I still have paranoia. Nothing seems to touch that much for me.

You'd definitely want to stay away from the more activating APs like Abilify and Latuda. They can make anxiety worse.

Well, paranoia is a delusion. Unless there's a real reason to be paranoid.

I thought delusions were things like people bugging your calls, spied on, thinking your god n stuff like that?? rather than just paranoia as in severe anxiety, over self awareness, severe social anxiety etc??
Thanks for this!

Yeah...the catch-word "paranoia" ("Ugh, I am SO paranoid that I look stupid in this dress!") has a very different meaning than the psych term paranoia ("I feel like when I go grocery shopping, people in the store are talking about me").

I thought tht was more the same.As a delusion is something that cant be true, for example someone bugging your phone, spying on you etc where as thinking people are talking about you is plausible although unlikely, i guess it just comes down to the extent of the paranoia i guess.

I've taken a ton of APs. The combo of seroquel and haldol worked pretty good for awhile but then my symptoms changed and I became more paranoid. Then I started having too many side effects from them because I had to take them at high doses. I also have severe anxiety. My current med combo seems okay--latuda, seroquel and a couple mood stabilizers. The latuda can cause some anxiety--especially the first few months you take it--but, I've adjusted to it. The latuda helps my thinking and paranoia more than any other AP I've taken. And, the seroquel I take also helps with the anxiety.

I'm not on APs specifically for anxiety, but I've noticed how much calmer I've been since I went back on Zyprexa in March. Job interviews, money problems, my husband's illness.....I'm handling it all without feeling like my heart will explode. Not even Klonopin has done that for me. Nice side effect!
