i am 39 and alone with 2 small kids. it's hard. i am extremely sick - the doctor says i am suffering from acute anxiety and depression.

i have just seen a psychiatrist today who prescribed me remeron in the evening and zoloft in the morning. her explanation of why she was putting me on these particular meds made sense to me earlier, but now i am afraid again.

can anyone give me a word of reassurance? what else will help me recover quickly?

Hi Maria,
Welcome to PC! i am scared too...

I would recommend you take the meds and make yourself feel better. What is the point of going to the trouble of seeing a psychiatrist if you're not willing to do what they suggest? What have you got to lose? Perhaps if you tell us more what you are afraid of, we might be able to offer better reassurances?

I think you have come to a great website. The others you will meet here are extremely caring, sensitive people who truly support one another. Please keep posting and let us know how you are feeling ---the good, the bad and the ugly!
Okie

Most people here, it seems, are taking some sort of psychiatric medicine & find that it helps. I'd try them, too, since you got a medical opinion. I'm taking a bunch of meds, but they work for me.--Suzy

you may not "recover" quickly as it takes time for the body to adjust to your meds. meds help us tremendously and i suggest you give them a try and see how it goes.........good luck, pat

ive been on both of these & im still on the zoloft. the remeron made me wanna eat but it also helped me to sleep good. i might ask for it again because i have insomnia right now. just try & give the meds a chance & your body should get used to them. if your body disagrees with them maybe they could give u something else. i am scared too...
