Seroquel and Lamictal

I saw a pdoc for the very first time today and he prescribed seroquel and lamictal for treatment of my anxiety/depression/bipolar spectrum. I was wondering if anyone has a similar issue as me in regards to mental health (see my post... http://forums.psychcentral.com/showf...1&fpart=1)....

and if anyone does have any similarities, were there significant positive changes with seroquel/lamictal? If so, could you be specific? I appreciate all your help...

I don't know what Lamictal is but saroquel is classified as an anti psychogitc (reletively wide range of drugs)...

take 2 of them and good luck not passing out. they're meant to kick yoru butt and make you chill out.

can buy them on the street for a quater each.

While my history is not like yours, I have had excellent results after adding Seroquel to Lamictal, and I also take lithium. the Seroquel was probably the single biggest improvement in my treatment since I began it. I sleep better, and my mood is much better than it has been in over ten years.

Keep in mind that these are powerful drugs that will still take a while to do their thing, and you may have to adjust, add or subtract different meds as time goes on. the important thing is to be sure and let your pdoc know how you are feeling. They can't help if they don't know what's going on.

Be patient and follow your doctor's instructions precisely. if you do this, and keep the lines of communication open, you have an excellent chance for success!

Hi DJ!! I take lithium, lamcital and seroquel too. I agree, took me at least 2 months to get stable on all three of these. I believe the seroquel not only helps me with my sleep but helps me with my mood too in regards to being manic, irritable or anxious. I've not run accross anyone before who has taken the same combination of meds as me and i'm so glad to hear that your doing well on these three meds too!

The pdoc gave me the Seroquel right after it was approved for bipolar dpression. It has been a godsend for me. Sometimes I get a little nervous about taking all these SERIOUS frickin' drugs, but if they let me be somewhat normal, it's all good, I guess!

Seroquel seems to have had a fairly mixed press, but I second your remarks. In relation to my daughter, it is the single biggest factor in improving life - for her and for me, her mother.

Quite honestly I had got to the point where I could no longer imagine being able to have her living with me for much longer. That was a dreadful thought and would have been so sad for both her and for me, but life had just become a living hell, for both of us. The change in my daughter when on seroquel is just amazing. No, it hasn't worked miracles, the problems and issues are still there and still have to be worked through, but she is now (generally) settled enough to be able to take advantage of the various therapies.

And for the first time in many, many years I am no longer so fearful of my own safety - which means I can be a "real" parent at last ie I can act naturally around her without "treading on eggshells" all the time, I can pull her up, even tell her off when necessary without risking being in danger for doing so. Yes, she still flies off the handle at times and her moods are still up and down but the seroquel just seems to flatten out some of the lows and highs.

All medications and their effects are individual things and maybe others have had terrible problems with seroquel, but for us it has been very beneficial. There is a problem with some of the other meds that were tried ( she has a "paradoxical" reaction to some others) but, much as I dearly wish there were no NEED for any meds ( what mother LIKES her kid being on any meds ?) I am just grateful that, given the neeed, there is something that helps. At the same time, of course, I really hope that one day she can "be herself by herself".
