I have talk therapy with a great therapist at my county mental health clinic. But my concern is about the meds supervision. The meds are reviewed every couple of months, including Primary Care and complete lab records I have to provide. Also, I have to provide a Lithium report from lab. Also, I have to remember my expiration dates and call in for refills or new prescriptions days in advance.
I don't see how people who are emotional sick, out of it, spacy from Thorazine and such,or not very able to read and think, can deal with such stringent requirements. Not everybody has a relative, spouse, or case worker to keep track of meds for them. In fact many people are alone with these problems.

you make a very good point...luckily you appear functional and able to do this...do they provide caseworkers for those who do not? it wouldn't make sense if they did not. they would have a bunch of non compliant individuals on their rolls and end up costing more in the long run..

that sounds like a lot to remember!

Could maybe making a table be of some use for you? So putting in the medications you are on, when the medications expire and when you put in for refills? It may help you keep the information required easier and of course take a lot of the stress off you!!

Thinking of you

A good old fashioned calendar will work wonders Look at it the begining of every week and put reminders in your phone. Yes I have needed to do this.

Good luck

I've always had my husband to do this. I would probably be dead now if I hadn't had the help.

A big calendar, yes indeedy! I never used a calendar for much in my life, but now have one with large squares to write in. That helps, but even that seems like an awful lot to do.
I'm also thinking that some patients get case workers to help them because of their problems about complying. I don't see how patients that are hostile, psychotic, or low education, can manage by themselves. They probably do get help but I just don't know about it. That's a good thought, Kaliope, as the more people who are able to do for themselves, the better for them.

I try to make it so my therapy, med review, prescription pick up, labs and drs are all in the same day.

I have to track mine too. I've also found it helpful to schedule my pdoc and therapy on the same day. I also schedule appointments in advance as one of my meds, adderrall, requires a new script every month, so I go pretty frequently every 4-6 weeks). I've also gone over organizational skills with both, since it's an issue of mine anyway. If you have trouble can you request a caseworker? I know where I am if your MI qualifies as a disability the state gives you one, but not for those who are more high functioning.

I have a planner and put literally everything in it. I will forget so much little things and huge things without it. Examples? When to get allergy shot, dr appointments, when to refill meds, if I supposed to meet someone/time, even a few to do things.

Anything I need to remember to do...I write it down and I take it everywhere. yep.

It works!

I use the Walgreens app to track all my meds (oh, so many meds!). It's very helpful. I still forget to take a couple now and then, though.
