I don't know for sure, but at one time my p-doc was thinking about prescribing an anti-psychotic for me, because I was having some paranoia due to depression.

I am not sure if I can really answer this or not...my paranoia was very mild and only lasted a short time when I was severly depressed. However, my doc gave me abilify. Its been a good drug for me--helped bring me out of a psychosis and it decreased intrusive thoughts. The paranoia went away, but I am not sure if it was the abilify or the other drugs. I am pretty sure it was the abilify. The good thing about abilify is that I have had zero side effects.

bethsway: Abilify worked for me for the paranoia & delusional thinking--maybe you aren't on the right dose. I'm on 20 mg. then go up to 25 for a week if a mania or severe depression is coming on--seems to do the trick. Warning: I gained 50 lbs. on Abilify, but it saved my life so I'm reluctant to change. Tried so many other drugs that didn't work or had worse side effects. Also take Lamictal.--Suzy

All antipsychotics work for paranoia as this symptom is primarily a psychotic symptom.

Bethsway, Risperdal has certianly worked for me. It was the first psychiatric medictaion I ever tried and it has been very helpful for managing my recurring psychosis.
