I am taking Seroquel and Lexapro. I have gotten back to the normal sleep cycle because the seroquel but and having horrible dreams which I remember most or all of. I also have panic attacks, they are mostly the less severe ones where my brain feels "blocked", I think/feel I may be dying and I need to escape but I am trapped. I have these mostly when something spefic is bothering me or I am extremely agitated/angry. I have major attacks too that are mostly from the same causes but sometimes really bad ones come on just unexpected, I'll be doing something then one will just come on. In the major ones I feel like I am "not me", my brain is totally blocked, I can't catch my breath, chest pains, I feel like Im dying, I turn red and I get really scared. They only last for 10-15 mins but are incredibly scary. I was taking buspar for anxiety and it seemed to kind of ease the attacks but not stop. The Buspar didn't help much but did a little. My doc took me off the buspar and put me on seroquel and lexapro so now I am just totally loosing it with the panic attacks ...What should I do? Or are there any meds that I could ask my doc for to stop these attacks? I think I may be going crazy...

Hi KBLUV, welcome to the forums!
I don't have any experience with Lexapro, hopefully one of the other members can help you there. I was tried on Seroquel several years back, and I remember having very vivid, intense dreams while I was on it. I was glad that it didn't work, it was making my anxiety worse. If you're having panic attacks, or even excessively heavy anxiety attacks, you might talk to your doctor about one of the benzodiazapines like Klonopin or Xanax. But be aware that they can become addictive over time, so you need to be very careful with them. I currently take Klonopin and it's very good for anxiety. I'm sure the others will have some ideas too. I hope you find a lot of help and support here! Greg ![]() "Beauty is truth, truth is beauty - that is all you know on earth, and all you need to know" |

Hello KBLUV,
I agree with Bptoo you should ask your doctor about taking Klonopin, Ativan, or Xanax any one of these serve the same generally purpose which is to reduce panic attacks and they REALLY do work! But they are best used for short term not long term. It is really best to take these when you are transitioning between other medications because it will reduce panic attacks while you are switching meds. I would definitely ask your doctor about these medications for your panic attacks. In addition, try and find out from your doc about therapy for your anxiety too. I am currently taking Lexapro for an anxiety disorder it I think it does a really good job. I still have panic attacks here and there but thats to be expected with any anxiety disorder. The Lexapro does significantly reduce my anxiety and panic attacks by about 70 percent so that is good and the therapy kind of picks up the other 20 to 30 percent. Well good luck! Keep us posted! ![]() |

I have Lexapro 10 mg for panic attacks that work well for me. Its not the immediate quick fix type drug, it works in your system as a prophylactic to anxiety. I had panic attacks which lasted sometimes 3 hours & have been to the ER many times. Just .05 to 1 mg Xanax would calm these severe symptoms, it's fast acting, usually 10-15 minutes I was OK. No panic for me since adding the Lexapro. Good LucK!
