I'm currently taking wellbutrin. It worked well for a while but lately I feel I need something more. My doctor mentioned adding prozac--- Has anyone tried this combo? How did it work? Any issues?
Thanks

My sis has been on that combo before. It worked well for her. She was on Prozac first and her doc added Wellbutrin to give her a bit more energy and help her diminished libido.

My doc added Wellbutrin to my Celexa a couple of years ago and it helped to cut down on some of the lethargy I was getting from the Celexa.

I think it's quite common for Wellbutrin to be combined with an SSRI.

Yes, actually prozac and wellbutrin are said to work quite well together. Many people need only a small dose of prozac to add in the serotonin effects that are "missing" in the WB, which only hits the norepinephrine and dopamine. I have known someone who has Panic Disorder who has been greatly helped by this combination of 150 WB and about 15mg. prozac. (This person also takes a very small dose of a benzodiazepine).

I had this combo for awhile but in the reverse. I am a Prozac user and my p-doc added Wellbutrin to counteract sexual side effects of Prozac.

Big mistake. It made me angry and filled me with tons of anxiety.

But everyone reacts differently.

I used to take Wellbutrin and Prozac together along with Lithium. I was always depressed so he kept increasing the Prozac, eventually up to 80 mg. I liked the Wellbutrin when I first started it. It made me feel good. This was years ago and all I can remember. I since changed doctors and my whole medication cocktail.

I'm on Wellbutrin and Prozac -- works well for me...

Very low dose of Prozac, with 450mg WB XL. (And Ritalin.)

It's well worth trying. As someone else mentioned, WB hits two of the Big Three catecholamines, and Prozac hits the third. You're targetting all three neurotransmitters generally considered to be most involved with psychiatric disorders, especially depression.

Good luck.
