I've just started zoloft for the second time - it worked in the past and I've been off it for about a year, and decided to go back on. I'm having some of the same side effects that I remember from the first time (nausea, jaw clenching, dry mouth) and I'm also having some bothersome headaches. Anyone know when I can expect these to subside? I started 50mg 12 days ago and upped it to 100mg 3 days ago.

It has been a long time since I took Zoloft, but the best I can remember is that the worst of the side effects seemed to last around 3 weeks. If the dose gets increased, side effects may start again.

Are you able to get any sense of what's causing the headaches? I mean like muscle tension or low blood sugar. Sometimes it will be something you can do something about, other times it's not anything you can figure out and you just have to wait for it to go away. My "go-to" non-prescription med for mysterious headaches is BC Powders (I know, I laugh about it too.)

Sorry to hear about the side effects. Reminds me why I hate to change meds!

Thanks, jo. I can't seem to figure out what's causing it. It almost feels like a dehydration headache, but I've been drinking water like crazy so I know I'm hydrated. I guess it could be a tension headache of some sort. I know I can take ibuprofen or something for the pain, but I'd just like to limit the drugs in my body... you know?

No, I pretty much eat them like popcorn.

Sort of joking - my experience with headaches from antidepressants has usually been that any kind of over-the-counter pain reliever doesn't help them anyway.

Whenever I try a drug that gives me a headache, my doctor always says to stop it immediately. You should really tell your doctor.

I usually wait two weeks max if side effects are bothersome or no relief/condition worsening to call my doctor. I would do so in your case.
Thanks for this!

Most all SSRIs give me headaches. At one point I was taking so much Tylenol, that it raised my liver enzymes.
I tried Lexapro for several months, but it made me nauseous every day.

I think I've tried pretty much all of them, so yeah, I'm done with SSRIs.

Oh, I well remember the Zoloft headaches. Advil took the edge off so I could function. About 3 weeks in the headaches lessened.
Thanks for this!

I started Prozac three weeks ago, upped the dose a week ago and still the headaches keep on coming. I have decided to try to hold out for another three weeks and hope that the headaches become less frequent. I hope you get some relief soon.

They may not go away. When I was on Prozac I had headaches the entire time I was on it and I just dealt with it. I know better now though. I would definitely talk to your doctor.

I never experienced headaches with Zoloft. In fact, my severe headaches disappeared after taking Zoloft. I used to get headaches all the time from anxiety. Now, it's only once every two weeks or so. And they aren't as severe. Anyways, I take Advil or no brand stuff. Hope you find something that works.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I'm happy to report that the headaches stopped a few days ago (on zoloft for almost 3 weeks now).

Now my problem is that I'm super tired all the time. Even when I get plenty of sleep and no matter how much caffeine I drink! Anyone else have this?

Yes!!! This is why I stopped Zoloft. I felt so tired, even with 8 hours of sleep! I felt like I got half the amount of sleep I actually had. I couldn't stay awake in class basically, so that was it. I have no tips for that because that was my issue. Hope this helps When will headaches with zoloft go away? .

I'm dealing with the same things. Headaches and now crushing fatigue. Also some had tremors. And they are increasing the dose. I don't think I want to. I'm at least breaking it in half to take morning and night so it spreads out. I have also had a severe increase in anger, irritation, and agitation. I typically don't do well with SSRIs... I'm so done.
