Hey i just came back from doc and he gave me Paroxinor, 1/4 of 20mg pill once a day. Im so scared of trying it since every psycho med ive tried made only a bigger hell of my life.. Im very thin (48kg/173cm) and every medication even just for common cold i have to have in doses for kids so i asked him for something very light, but from what i googled paroxetine is the strongest type of ssri... And he said i can crush or just chew the pill, when description online says it cant be chewed so i dont know what to think about it.. Anyone got better after this type of medication? I have gigantic fear of meds, i dont want to be whole life on them, i dont believe that medication can cure fear and panic.. But im living with toxic family and dont see any other option anymore..

Paroxetine is my favourite SSRI. You're going to love it!

The crushing and chewing bit is for the XR versions. Plain versions you can cut, crush, chew no problem.

I love Paxil. It's the only SSRI that has ever controlled my panic attacks, and I've tried nearly all of them.

I'm going to a new pdoc Dec. 29 and I'm going to ask specifically for Paxil. I experienced some mild nausea once in awhile, maybe a headache or two that may or may not have been connected to Paxil, but overall the side effects were a million times better than the hell of panic/ anxiety attacks.

I'm actually envious of you!!!

Thanks guys for reply so i have few more questions. Can it be taken with other meds? I have anemia so have to take iron, and at the moment i have also cold; does it affect/ improve sleep or weight? Could it help with physical symptoms too? I often feel very weak and heavy, like i would have invisible extremely heavy armor on myself and i collapsed few times doc says its probably because of my panic disorder.;and doestit works on intrusive thoughts and feelings?

Disorder7 theres nothing to envy in my case medication triggers panic attacks too, i had very bad side effects before snd since then im freaking out when i have to take any kind of pills x_x im really stressed even when i just think about trying another ssri

Of course, I don't know what side effects you may experience. But all medication increase my panic attacks, too.... Except Paxil.

There's been so many. A combination of Prozac and Abilfy made me want to crawl out of my skin, Seroquel would make me get up and run around in a frenzy in the middle of the night, Zoloft, celexa, lexapro...all caused more anxiety. Lamictal and trileptal made me freak out and scratch until I bled... I could go on but I think you get the point.

But not Paxil. After a couple of weeks, it was like being wrapped in a warm blanket. Sigh.

I was on it for TEN YEARS. It worked so well that after a decade, I believed I was CURED and no longer had mental problems. So....... I stopped taking it.

How dumb was that???!!!!!!

Oh my thor 10 years : O thats scary for me : O i cant imagine being so long on meds.. being on meds for years or whole life scares me like crazy i dont want to be dependend of something or someone for life im taking iron for 1,5 month so far and in already tired of it.. Not mention that i cant keep taking it on the same time, sometimes i take it at 8am, sometimes 4pm.. So i cant imagine taking ssri everymorning for so long.. How big dose of paxil have you had if i may ask?
I had same symptoms which you mentioned after few meds ive tried, + panic attacks so heavy everyday that i was thinking i was dying.. And horrible physical symptoms like shaking so much that i damaged teeth, hot flashes so heavy i couldnt breathe and ripped tshirt, etc.. I dont want to feel this way never again
and meds also killed my creativity, which is one of the worst things that may happen to designer.. I think some months of practicing yoga and meditation helped me finally restore this sparkle of old me and lately i finally designed sth and started to sew again, so i dont want to lose it again

Most of the time I was only taking 10 mg when my mother died, it was bumped to 20 mg
But that's all it took to control my panic attacks.
