I've recently been cycling then settled into depression. Through the whole month I haven't been sleeping so my pdoc gave me Latuda to take at night for help with sleep. The first night I slept well, the second not quite as well, lady noght-omg! My mind was racing like crazy and I couldn't calm my racing heart either.

I tried calm music, just laying in the dark and even guided meditation. Nothing helped! I hadn't had caffeine or sugar either.

Can Latuda cause this??

I also take Wellbutrin, lamictal, gabapentin, and rexulti (which can be activating But hasn't been this whole month !)

Thanks Moogs. Just weird. I really just want consistent, quality sleep. And I already told my t it helped so she could get pdoc to send in script firbit (she gave me samples.)

Should I keep trying it or call office Monday if it's not working so she won't call it in til I know if it WILL help? I'm in 20 mg now but in allowed to try 40mg. I plan to tonight!

Latuda never caused mania for me. Every AD I've been on has caused mania but I had no such problems on Latuda.

Latuda's never caused mania for me. I actually don't think I've ever truly been manic while on it. I've had a mixed episode, but it wasn't a result of the Latuda, it was just how my brain was working at the time. I take 40mg at night and it helps me sleep. In fact, it makes me tired and if I try to stay up too long after taking it I feel not just tired but horrible.

Latuda caused hypomania for me. It also really increased suicidal idealizations. Let your pdoc know...I guess this is a known side-effect.

Theoretically it can, as it does act on a couple serotonin receptors in addition to dopamine receptors. I don't know how much it does in "real life'. It works fairly similarly to abilify and I've seen mania/hypomania with abilify quite a few times.

Talk to your doc. Maybe you need to switch to something more selective.

Well I'm still not sleeping so I called pdoc office and told them and asked if I can try Trazadone since she gave that option. I'm waiting to hear back

I take 40mg of latuda for schizophrenia. It makes me drowsy during the day but haven't experienced mania due to it.

Latuda can be activating. It's not actually approved for treating mania; it's just approved for bipolar depression, and I can see why. I only realized this now, after a year of taking it! It knocks me out after I take it in the evening, but by morning I'm more anxious than I would be without it, and when I took it last summer, my head felt like it was going to explode with over-stimulation, which I never got with Abilify.

I don't know the dosage, but I had a friend go on latuda and she went absolutely manic! She could not sit still at all.
