Hi all,

So I started taking 50 mg of Zoloft (had been a previous user for a couple of years but tapered off for a couple of years) due to another depressive episode. I then started taking the Zoloft again before seeing my doctor (50 mg) and finally got yo see him at the end of January about 2 weeks ago.

What we ended up on was the increase the Zoloft to 100 mg in order to get things going but to also have Clonzapam for the first few weeks since I experience really bad anxiety when on these meds at first.

After like two days I felt awesome. And felt great for a full week (had an awesome weekend with the kids, etc).

The week or so has been a bit lower. Had difficulty playing with the kids, feeling I was being the Dad they expect, not as productive as work, etc.

Has anyone else experience kind of a little lull in the middle after doing so well at first? I talk to the doctor again at the end of the this month but thought i'd ask around elsewhere too.

Thanks!
Hugs from:

Hi,

I'm sorry that you're going through depression.

Since the meds nor environment have changed, I'm thinking it may be psychological.

When I first start new meds (really do anything new) I tend to feel really well (maybe better than I'm actually doing). I call it the "pink cloud" effect.

My advice is to hang in there, for next week will probably be better.

I hope you feel better soon.

About 3 weeks ago, I started taking a new combination of meds (Prozac, Provigil, and Clonazepam) and it's been an interesting ride. Some days I feel great, and others I feel awful. The side effects haven't been terrible, so I'm going to give it another 4 weeks because sometimes it takes a while for things to even out. But if they don't, I'm going to have to try something different.

I think it's not uncommon for people to need a little time to adjust to new medications. And I've also noticed that medication can help me cope with my problems, but it doesn't make them go away entirely. Every so often, I still have really bad days, they're just easier to manage.

Best of luck, and I hope things settle down for you soon.
