on accident.

I have set my cell phone alarm to beep every day at 11 am to remind me totake my Effexor XR (187.5 mgs). Yesterday was so very, very hectic. When my alarm went off I silenced it and continued what I was doing. When I realized I forgot to take my meds, I immediately took it, around 11:30ish.

I left work around 1:30 and arrived home at 2:30. I was doing my assignment for school and I realized I hadn't taken my medication, so I took it (187.5 mgs).

A few hours pass and I start feeling flush and hot. My head feels numb and tight. I start thinking about what I ate. As I start thinking, I remember taking my Effexor at work and then again when I got home.

I started freaking out. My usual dose is 187.5, and I took 375mgs. I called the Dr's office and spoke to the nurse who could sense my fear. She told me that I would feel extremely tired or extremely wired. I was wired, which quickly turned to tired. She advised me NOT to take my regular dose today, and resume my usualy schedule on Sunday.

Right now I am feeling tired. My eyes feel big. I must have slept pretty well because I really dont remember much.

Has this ever happened to anyone?

not w/ Effexor but yes w/ other meds a few times over the decade + on meds.

you were wise to call the nurse. sounds like you got good advice and now just need to let your body process this and resume meds on Sunday.

when it has happened to us we've freaked out and worried and stressed and called the pharmacist who basically did the same as your nurse--reassured us that we'd live and what we might experience from a dbl dose of the med(s).

it happens and after it has happened usually a LONG time passes before the next 'oops, did we really just take our meds twice this morning' type of thing.

you're human after all Took Double my usual DOSE be gentle and kind to you.

stinks to get through but you're already halfway there and you are okay.

you're gonna get through this and you're halfway there!

one time on a higher dose of buproprion hcl we took a dbl dose within 3 hrs.....when there was supposed to be at least 8 hrs between doses. felt like our heart was gonna burst right out of our chest from beating so fast! gah!! it was so uncomfortable and stunk riding it out but after calling pharmacist and finding which sx were okay and which meant we needed to head to ER we felt better as we didn't have any of the 'go to ER' sx.

golly being on meds can be such the adventure Took Double my usual DOSE rest up and start fresh tomorrow just a little bit wiser for the wear.

(((((((((( jmo )))))))))))

I'm glad you called the nurse, that was a good idea. Hopefully you'll need only a bit longer to feel better again. Like zh says, your body needs to recover from the double dose, but I'm quite sure you'll be feeling well again, sooner rather than later Took Double my usual DOSE
