I stopped taking paliperidone last week, 3mg once a day to manage bipolar disorder. I took it every day for roughly two years. My biggest burning question is how long it will take for my dopamine and serotonin levels to return to where they were before I started taking the stuff. I read that it has a half-life of 25-49 days, and for a drug to fully leave your system, you need to multiply its half life by six. That could be nearly a year before this stuff is totally put of my bloodstream.
So, let's use 300 days. Does this mean it will be 300 days until its effects are effectively reversed? Does a medicine being in my bloodstream necessarily mean it's still acting on my brain? Will I be withdrawing for nearly a year? If you can't answer any of the technical stuff, then I'd like to hear from people who stopped taking paliperidone. I'd like to know how you felt and for how long. Any help, however, is very appreciated.

it can take a while for the brain and the rest of the body to "reset" after long term exposure to any psych drug. have you considered a slow(er) taper?
