Anybody? I do know that Pregabalin clearly, according to scientific literature and doctors, is far far superior in efficacy, for its anxiolytic effect over Gabapentin. Yet Gabapentin is still the more popular drug of choice for some reason. My main concern is regarding weight gain. Can current or past users share their experience as to its efficacy and its effect on weight/increased appetite?

I think gabapentin is less dangerous. I had a classmate who took gabapentin - she was originally prescribed pregabalin, but they wouldn't give it to her because it had more dangerous side effects than gabapentin, and given her age, they decided to start with gabapentin.

Don't know how that works exactly - I've never been on gabapentin, just on pregabalin, and I was 14 when I started (she was 16 I think).
Thanks for this!

I have never taken either what I can tell you is pregablin is gabapentin with a couple molecules rearranged .
Pregablin also "officially denies" that it's addicting choosing to call it discontinuation syndrome , where i come from that's called addiction/dependence.
I am a chronic pain patient with a hard head and years ago i one doctor who everytime he got near me he tried to talk me out of what was treating my pain and try the drug dejour he was trying to peddle I don't like the science behind either drug and absolutely refused to take them , my first appointment with pain management was seeing every kind of specialist on earth to determine if I needed mental help , physical help or pain management some of those doctors gave me a passing grade when they found out I wouldn't go near either gabapentin or pregablin that should tell you something , they agree I am better off on opiates than those drugs ! That is one he'll of a condemnation from doctors especially with the opiate phobic state were in .
Thanks for this!

I started taking Gabapentin about 2 months ago for additional anxiety I was having and it seems to be working pretty well for me, I take 300 mg a day. I haven't noticed any bad side effects from it either so I plan to stay on it. I've had issues with weight gain from many psych meds but this one hasn't done it to me so I'm very happy about that.

Pregabalin can easily be sold because it is a drug that can be abused. Docs don't like prescribing those. No one would buy Gabapentin from a dealer.
