Is anyone on it?
For what?
Did you gain a lot of weight?
Just want to hear oothers' experiences.
My psychiatrist wanted to put me on it for anxiety and sleep.
Not really wanting to---Seroquel at night-50mg-helps.

The only thing I can remember is that my general practioner prescribed this< not sure for what . Either depression or couldn't sleep. I gained a lot of weight!!!

My new pysch doc took me off of it . She said she doesn't know why he prescribed this med.

Good luck.

I have been on it for 9 months...started going off just yesterday. I started it for sleep issues...this med specifically because it has a known side effect of disrupting dream cycles. I had been having a dream state flashback for 2 years! It worked for that...and it makes me very sleepy also. However, weight gain is a huge issue with this med. I didn't gain any but I also didn't lose any, and have been trying very hard to lose! Had I not been trying so hard to lose, I probably would have gained.

Thank you both.
i didn't take it last night and slept well.
I already take Librium-25mg 2x a day as well.
I have heard the weight gain from this drug is phenominal--but....the doc who gave it to me said "Seroquel makes you gain too"---I'm overweight, but by about 30-40 pounds--not significantly.
I hope to hear more people come along who have tried this med.
I just honestly think I am on the right meds at this point. About 5 years ago, I took:
Seroquel
Effexor XR
Klonopin
Lamictal
and i was literally messed up.
Currently I take
50mg Librium a day
2mg Suboxone a day
50mg Seroquel a day

a little still.. REMERON

i had been on remeron for a few months for my depression. it didn't do the trick for me. i didn't gain weight on it. it did really knock me out like crazy. i mean, an hour after taking it, i was knocked out. it didn't knock me out for 24 hours. so, it's a really good sleep agent, for sure. whoo. it was like getting punched out. not literally punched out, but i had an insane need to sleep an hour after taking it. that's why you might want to take it at bedtime as my pdoc had me do.

Thanks! That's when he said to take it. I just still take the 50mg Seroquel, and about 2 hours later I'm ready to go to sleep.
A woman I knew was on it--worked for her, and I believe the pdoc put her on it because she was anorexic==she would gain an appetite back, and cure something else in the meantime?

It zonked me good for sleep, but it left me feeling hung-over in the morning and I couldn't adjust to that and didn't like that so I switched to something else.

May I ask what your dosage was?
And did you gain any weight during the time you were on it?
I know the drill----everyone responds differently to all the meds, but I haven't heard anyone say they lost weight while taking Remeron.
Thanks!

yes it knocks you out ,it gave me huge appetite at first but my weight didn't increase, it didn't remove my anxiety depression and left me with a thick head, its known as a wonder drug and is used when other pills have failed, you can only give it a go

See, that's the thing---it didn't remove your anxiety and depression.
I can function--what happens is I get extreme anxiety.

See my new post above.

And thanks for your post. REMERON
What makes it a wonder drug?---never heard of it being called that.
So far, my psychiatrist hasn't put me on an antidepressant---haven't been on one since Nov. 2005--and still functioning--but the anxiety can be debilitating for me.

its known as a 'wonder drug 'because it works on several parts of the brain rather than just serotonin, its usually tried when the ssri's then effexor have failed,i'm no expert on drugs maybe someone else can explain? i wouldn't call it a wonder drug ,it made me feel like the walking dead!
