So my sister was just prescribed Zoloft about a week ago. For the first week she is supposed to take half a dose and then after that she can take a full dose. Now I understand that this can do the opposite and make her suicidal. She is 14 years old by the way. How likely is it that she will become more suicidal or more depressed? And what signs should I look for if she does?

Well, for some signs I would look out for..

-Odd behavior (like an odd way of doing things for example)

-TALKING about suicide.. in anyway, EVEN if it's only joking (ex. "I wish I wouldn't have ever been born...")

-Giving away things, or sorting things.

-Wide range mood swings, one minute nice.. and one minute yelling at you over something so small.

-Cuts or bruises on arms

and.. just.. what you think, doesn't feel right about your sister. It's really cool to see a sibling posting like this asking how they can help. Most brothers or sisters I know wouldn't do this. Awesome job to you. :-)

I never had a problem with suicide before my zoloft or during, or anything. It can be a different story for other people. You can find a ton of info just by typing Zoloft in a search engine.
