i take .5mg twice a day, but also take Celexa and Wellbutrin...

Klonopin is a sedative and will not help with depression

why cant you take anti-depressants???

you need to consult your physician....dont stop taking the Klonopin though...

Hey ((((free))). I'm on Lamictal. My pdoc told me the other day that lamictal is generaly prescribed to people with severe depression and bipolar 2. Maybe you could see about lamictal. I hope something works out for you. I hate hearing that you are feeling so bad lately.

love ya,
chalmette

thanks for you reply ~
i did talk to my pdoc on the phone today - she does not think the klonopin is causing the depression but on my appointment will add a anti psycotic (sp?) for the depression .. for a mood stabilizer ..
since taking anti depressants is out of the questions ..
problem is - i been on those too with no effect .. but she says there are more that we can try. .. hm .. i am already worried about that.
i am beginning to think that i can take nothing .. because of all the negative results i have had in the past.
i just want to feel better .. not drugged.

I didn't wont to take Klonopin for that same reason. So my doctor came up with GABITIL its a mood stabilizer but has the same calming effects that Klonopin dose and its not addicting .Its not as strong but it may work for you.

I hate to go against what a medical professional has told you but one of the well documented side effects of Klonopin is a feeling of Depression =\

I assume you have Bipolar Disorder because your taking Klonopin for anxiety and you have a manic reaction to anti-depressants. In which case it may help for your Mental Health Provider to switch the Klonopin to something like Buspar.

I'm not sure if taking you off it at the cost of increased anxiety to see if you are depressed is a good solution.

Talk to your doctor and see what solution you can both reach.

I also have read many times that klonopin can cause depression. I take xanax and it works just fine for me. The shorter half-life does not bother me as it lasts in my system for up to 8 hours between doses. Xanax is also known to help depression. I hate to go against your doctor's advice also but this is a well known fact that certain people become depressed on klonopin.

I was under the impression that Klonopin is not supposed to be used longterm. My doctor told me the drug can be addictive and wouldn't prescribe me more than 2 weeks worth for temporary anxiety that was supposed to be a side effect of Lexapro. I've also spoken to someone who started to experience several side effects after years of using Klonopin. I would talk to your doctor about this and see if there is another possible anti-anxiety drug you could try.

again thank you for your replies - they are helpful!
On Klonopin ... I realize one side affect is depression .. I called my pdoc .. she said she doubted my depression was coming from klonopin .. and wants to add a anti psy to combat depression ..
being that I cannot take AD's .. I am doubting that will help .. because I have tried a list of those before too and nothing helped ..
I am think that I am drug resistant depression ..
Klonopin is great for anxiety .. but ... i hear horror stories of ppl coming off of it ... I am on 2mg a day and realize that is a low dose ..
I dont need more than that .. if the withdrawl is a horror story.
