I just started taking strattera today for my ADHD. My psychiatrist also diagnosed me as bipolar, but I have been on depression meds for years. Firt Zoloft now Effexor XR. Turns out just depression wasn't my main problem and neither of those ever really made me feel better alone. I guess thats what happens when you let your PCP diagnose and treat you with a mental problem. Anyway, now I am still taking the Effexor XR 150 mg, and the new doc added a very low dose of Seroquel to start (50 mg), and now 60mg of Strattera. I feel that the ADHD ismy main problem, and always has been as long as I can remember.
Well, my question is if anyone has experience with taking Strattera, how long before it starts to help with the ADHD (even a little bit). I can not take any of the stimulant meds because I have a history of drug abuse. |

I could be wrong, but according to what I have heard from other patients with ADHD, Strattera is basically an antidepressant (or something like that) suitable for those with ADHD/ADD. So I guess it doesn't have the effects the stimulants do.. I'm not sure if it will help the symptoms of ADHD.
Again, I could be wrong, this is only what I have heard. I wish you the best of luck. Katie
