So how long should it take for me to stop feeling awful? I was doing really well--I guess I've been on it for two weeks now. But this weekend I just fell apart. I'm a mess, and I don't know what to think...

it took me about a month... but i had to be increased to a higher dose... my med doc likes to start me low and work up... so what i found was i would feel better for awhile and then need to be increased... i had a bad reaction to the generic and never was able to get to a level place... so my doc switched me to effexor...lyn

It typically takes a few weeks to a month for an antidepressant to build up in your system and have an effect. The initial "feeling better" could be a placebo reaction, which is completely normal. For Wellbutrin specifically there is a chance when you first start taking it that depression, anxiety and suicidal thought will increase before it starts to work. I think you should definitely call your perscribing doctor and tell them what a rough weekend you've had - don't keep them in the dark as to how you are doing.

I just started Wellbutrin too (I'm on a couple others as well), so I've been reading up on it! Keep us posted as to how you're doing too, maybe we can compare notes just started Wellbutrin

Best of luck.

Wellbutrin made me exceptionally weepy, spent most of my days locked away sobbing, was more out of control on it than off it. After 3 weeks I REFUSED to take it any longer, I was munching Xanor to combat the nasty Wellbutrin side-effect. Any way doc moved me to Lamictal and am much better. Do a bit of Googleing, you’ll see there are plenty of folk who feel worse on the drug than better, consider yourself a teeny percent of the population.
