I recently started Vyvanse to replace Strattera , does anyone have experience with stopping strattera? I was told by dr that I could just stop taking it, my pharmacist wasn't sure what side effects that would have. I have been taking both since tuesday with no ill effects from vyvanse . I have 2 weeks worth of strattera left should I taper down or just stop completely? I am supposed to start a mood stabilizer in about 10 days, and I would like to be weaned off strattera totally by then.

I think tapering is a good idea. However, you should not take Vyvanse and Strattera together without your doctor knowing. There might be a problem with that--who knows. If your doc thinks you stopping Strattera and then starting Vyvanse, and instead you are taking both of them, that is not good. Please call up your pdoc and get his OK on taking both of these drugs at once.
I know this is a completely different drug, but I took buspar for a while, then felt if wasn't working anymore, and my doc told me to quit cold turkey, that there would be no problem so I didn't need to taper. That actually was not true. It really destabilized me. I was so volatile. Yuck. Good luck.

I am taking a strattera every other day for 10 days to come down. Today was my first day without it and I could tell my body was missing it about 12 hours after I usually take it. I was ok until about 7pm and I usually took strattera aroud 7am. I switched to vyvanse to replace strattera, and when I was on both I was stable and in a good mood. Now I am depressed and feel on the verge of another phase switch.

My pdoc is the one that mentioned taking both strattera and vyvanse together at our first session.

Ok I finished coming off strattera, day before yesterday. I was doing it every other day with vyvanse every day. My Dr suggested the tritration schedule and it worked pretty well. I am now 100% vyvanse woohoo!! Now I go back Tuesday to try a different medicine for bp II any suggestions for one that is weight negative?
