My pdoc put me up to 900 mg of Lithium for the 2nd time. The first time he decreased it after awhile because of THE RUNS. haha, sorry. Anyway, he put me back 900 mg like two weeks ago because my moods have been all over the place. I neglected to get my levels checked. Since the beginning of the week, I've had horrible diarrhea, getting worse every day-- Then yesterday and today were horrible-- headache, hot flashes, extreme tiredness. I spent yesterday lying face down on the floor. I got my bloodwork done today, but then called my pdoc because I was concerned about what was going on with my body. He told me to stop the Lithium right away and completely. He said that my symptoms sounded as though the levels were getting too high and would only go higher if not stopped. He will check out my levels when they are faxed to him, but for now I'm off. I have a feeling I won't go back on it because it never helped my moods in the first place! Plus, I hate taking it three times per day, I have gained some weight, and it causes some breakouts. I don't think I will ever be helped by medication. This was the 17th one. I wonder if I will experience any mood changes being off Lithium-- I didn't think it helped but it will be interesting to see what happens now that I'm off-- will I feel more? Interesting...

Wow, that sucks. Both the side effects and another med run-around. Sorry!

Hopefully you find something that works soon.
