I have absolutely no wisdom at all regarding this BUT I am in the same place, relatively, except that I'm concerned about when my doctor decides that I need to stop the Xanax. I have not had a panic attack while on it, except when I skipped it for two days. I think it needs upped BUT so many doctors are afraid of benzos.....

It does take the edge off, so I am scared to stop taking it.

No experience, but just wanted to let you know you're not alone.

((hugs)) if you like them.

Rubylizard,
Again I think that everyone experiences differ, but I had a hard time coming off of Klonopin. However, I decided to do it myself without talking to my doctor first (my fault). I had my first panic attack during that time period. I also had a hard time sleeping for a few days.
I don't want to scare you. Please remember that I did this the wrong way... I stoppped cold turkey. I am sure that your experience will be a lot better.

I presently take klonopin .5mg 3 times per day. I think it is a lot, but my doctor thinks it is perfect. I have never stopped taking it, so i do not know what effects you may feel. If I was you, I would cut back slowly just to be safe.

Also if you do not trust anything your doctor says, why is he your doctor?

Also you might want to look Klonopin up on the net. I am sure you can find out what to expect, if anything when stopping the med.

Keep us updated as some day I too will be stopping this med.

I have withdrawn from klonpin. I took .25mg twice a day for about a year. I tapered off very slowly, and had no trouble at all while I was tapering down. About a week after I took the last pill, however, I did have some withdrawal effects. For about three days, I was very anxious and hardly slept. It was unpleasant, but I knew it was just withdrawal, so I stuck it out and it completely went away after those couple of bad days.

On the other hand, when I started the klonopin, I had been having horrible panic attacks for about eight months. From the moment I started taking it, the panic attacks completely went away. And I hardly ever get one now...maybe once a month I will get really panicky, and will take one klonopin to help shake it off. I rarely take more than two a month.

So, the withdrawal was unpleasant, but not unbearable, and in my opinion, a couple of days of withdrawal was nothing compared to the benefit I got from taking it.

MJ, so are you completely off of the klonopin. or are you taking it PRN.. just as needed. I got confused reading it. (which isn't difficult for me when I'm depressed).
