I was put on this last week to help me sleep and it works and tonight was the first night I went up on the dosage as per the instructions from my doc. Well I was at the freezer getting some ice for my water and my legs just gave way and I ended up on the ground. Is this normal? Or could it be that I just didn't eat much today and my blood sugar dropped? I ate a snack a little bit later but I'm still dizzy so don't think that's it but you never know.

(((hugs))) I had to go in hospital due to my reactions to meds...this was one of them I tried. The doctor gave me half the lowest dose (half what they give elderly and frail) and... it overdosed me! The nurses almost let me die, saying, oh, well just let her sleep it off" (according to the report.)
It's a strong med, go easy. ![]()

I emailed my nurse last night and called her this morning. She is going to talk to my pdoc and I will find out what he said tomorrow. I am also concerned about my AD. I take an MAOI and am finding that my other docs are having a hard time finding meds to prescribe for me for other things and am wondering if its such a wise idea for me to be on an MAOI. I found out this morning that I have patellar tendonitis and because of the Emsam I can't take any pain meds and the Tylenonel and Advil aren't working and the doc said he can't prescribe any pain meds because of the Emsam. I want a different AD. So hopefully my pdoc will change my AD for me.

I'm still not sure I'm supposed to be taking this drug. My pdoc says the dizziness will go away with time but tonight I got so dizzy that as I went to grab the chair to sit down I dropped my glass and the ice went bouncing out of it. At least I didn't break the glass as I feared. I get dizzy if I sit up too long so need to stay laying down after I take my meds. I just took some meclizine to help with the dizziness but its only helped a little bit. I'll give it til Thursday when I go to therapy and if its not better then I'll talk to his nurse and see if maybe a med change is in order.

jbug, can you take it right as you are going to bed so the dizziness won't happen when you're awake? Or, notice how long after you take it that the dizziness begins so you can plan to be in bed by then.
I took this drug for a while. One of my first. It did help me to sleep but the 'hangover' effect was something I didn't like so I went on to to something else. |
