I am on an SSRI antidepressant. Since starting on these meds, I have had some very emotional dreams. The emotions vary in each dream but just the emotion is the main feature of each dream. One dream was intense frustration, another was fear, and yet another was intense anger. Is this the work of SSRI antidepressants? I have read somewhere online that SSRIs can inhibit your ability to dream but my dreams are the opposite, much more intense. Can anybody explain this?

OMG! I have been experiencing the exact same thing. My husband said that last night I woke up wailing and throwing punches at him. I can't remember anything. The dreams seems to be getting more vivid and intense. I'm on Webutrin and Lexapro but I have a feeling it's the Seroquel.

I also had this experience on Prozac. It became much worse when Wellbutrin was added briefly. My dreams became incredibly vivid andrealistic, so much so that I could not remember at times if something happened for real or in a dream. The Wellbutrin also caused me to experience these "half awake" type states where I would be very afraid and confused. Had to stop the Wellbutrin!

Dreams and Antidepressants I have always been a vivid dreamer. I know that when I use Trazadone for sleep my dreams become extremely intense - to the point that I have preferred insomnia to the side effects.
