Hi everyone!

Ok, I was taking Lexpro for a while and even after my Dr upped the dosage it was not helping, so she switched me to Wellbutrin XL. Last week I cut my lexapro dosage in half and did that for a week and then took nothing for two days (which is what the doc said) then she said start the welbutrin. So today was the day i started it and I really dont feel like. Like if I turn my head too fast i get dizy, etc. I dont know if its the meds or what , it coudl be all in myhead? any ideas? I really did not feel bad until today

I started taking Welbutrin SR about 4 weeks ago. I"ve been complaining of headaches and generally not feeling well. My husband said it all started when I started the Welbutrin. Today I feel like total crap. My head is fuzzy, my tummy's upset. And I was getting a little dizzy since I started it, too. I see my pdoc on Thursday. I usuallly tolerate drugs well.
I take three others.
It could be the Welbutrin for you, but I'd at least try it again and see what happens. I like to give the drug a good couple of weeks to let my system adjust before deciding if it's for me or not. Unless there's a bad alergic reaction or something.

Katie, sorry to hear your under the weather
Two days is about the time it takes to feel the effects of stopping the Lexapro. It will pass in a short time.....
I took Wellbutrin XL for about two years and did well. I recently had to stop because of cost, and seem to feel bad more often now without it..
Wellbutrin is a chemically unique antidepresant, not related to tricyclics, SSRI's, or SNRI's.....Maybe this will be the 'magic bullet' . Talk to ya soon yutz.....

I took Wellbutrin XL for a month. I told my doc I could feel the space between my brain and my skull. I stayed dizzy and like "high" feeling. That's when I was switched to Lexapro.

Give it some time and see if it clears up. Be careful doing things till you feel less dizzy.

Good Luck, I hope you find something that works for you.

Thank you all for the posts yesterday. I feel horrible again today, well maybe the best way to describe it is weird or out of sorts. My head just feels spinny. I honestly think it might be the withdrawl from the lexapro because i felt this way years ago when i went off effexor. I just hope it goes away soon, work is not going so well due to it and im suppose to play softball tonight. I hope the wellbutrin helps me becaue I am tired of trying different things......

also, going off things like lexapro messes with your mind right?? I have been somewhat of an emotional basketcase. My boyfriend god bless him has been so patient. Last night was the worst. I was crying, wining about people being better looking, etc. oh it was bad. and you know what>? i wanted to get on this website and talk to people about it. it helped calm me in my head to think at least i do have somewhere to turn!

Lexapro was not working for me, it was in teh begining but then it stopped doing as well. ahh who knows. I hope the wllbutrin xl starts to help. I am hoping the way i feel is just withdrawl from lexapro, i have a feeling it is but we will see.

Hi katielee, how much Wellbutrin are you taking? I started at 100 mg, moved to 150 mg, then to 300 mg (2 x 150), and now am back down to 150 (decreased because I added a different med). I had very little trouble going on to it. I started gradually and built up. No dizziness, headaches. I felt energized. Then that effect tailed off. I don't feel that same energy anymore, but I think it still has value.

I have heard that frequently it is can be hard to come off the SSRIs, so hang in there with going off the Lexapro. Good luck.

I had lots of trouble when I started Wellbutrin... I got dizzy easily and felt so fuzzy and yet... wired. Like I'd had 20 cups of coffee. I was working in a lab at the time and I had to do everything incredibly slowly because my hands shook. I also had to drug myself to sleep for a week--otherwise I'd just starte at the ceiling. But Wellbutrin worked SO much better for me than Celexa (equivilant to lexapro) and the results were dramatic. It was like waking up for the first time in months. And yes, there are side effects from coming off your old drug, but that particular one isn't as bad as most, from what I've heard. So if this lasts a long time, get off of it, but for now do the best you can to get through the first week or two. I know it sucks, and it seems like nothing good can come out of something that makes you feel this screwy... but if it ends up working for you, it will be so worth it.
Thanks for this!

Went through terrible mood swings and dizzyness when I tried to stop the Lexapro. Went back to taking it because of the drop in serotonin levels. I take Wellbutrin also. Good luck to you.

Well i made it through the withdrawl finally. I am wondering though if I should be taking both, I am starting to wake up with the panic attacks that I had before I started on the lexapro, so i know it had been helping in that aspect. I go to my doc in a few weeks for a check up on the wellbutrim so i will see how the attacks are and go from there.

Thank you for your post!

I just wanted to chime back in, lately the least two weeks at least i have been miseralble, mentally. I had a breakdown last night, couldnt stop crying, etc. I think its the meds, i have not felt this bad in god knows how long so I am going to call my dr today and ask for some advice. Its three days short of a month that I have been on it.
