I think I mentioned before how the power randomly went out in T one day. Well, after it came back on, we were both looking at the ceiling (as if the answers to all of our problems were located there

I came into T's office and noticed some of her hair was sticking up. I have OCD and she is big on exposure therapy. So after I told her about her hair sticking up, she immediately brushed it down with her fingers. But then she she quickly made her hair stick up again! Damn exposure therapy! LOL I had to sit there looking at her hair all messed up with this strand of hair sticking straight up in the air! I thought it was so cute.

This isn't about T...or being cute, for that matter...Yesterday I went to the bank before I went to T, and my car broke down there. So I had to walk about a half a mile to T's office in 100 degree weather. When I get there, the secretary mentions that I look really, really hot, and I told her about what happened. She said "Oh, you should have called me. I would have come and picked you up." That was really sweet of her to say.

T brings a stuffed toy to the room just for me. One day she forgot and went back to her office just to get it for me.
![]() One day T was picking at the skin on her fingers near her fingernails. I said she shouldnt do that cos it will hurt later, she smiled and said you remind me of my mother. :P that was hilarious. |

I have a new one after today's session. My T has an ottoman that I sometimes put my feet on, only she had a tray on it today. I asked if I could use the ottoman, she said of course, so I put the tray on the floor. I forgot all about it at the end of the session, so I stepped on it when I took my feet off the ottoman and stood up - the tray slipped on the hardwood floor, and I almost fell! My T grabbed my arm, then said, "There's no falling in my office."

I guess this one would go under weird things, not cute, but I feel like it has a place in this thread.
With my old T, there was a time when I was stuck, and we really weren't making much progress, so he spent the entire session teaching me how to juggle and do a few card tricks. ![]()

Today, my T was giving me suggestions on stuff I can do so I'm not so isolated, and I kept trying to tell her how much it just made me angry at myself cuz I suck at life so. She was like "You can't get stuck in those negative patterns, because otherwise you'll be stuck in your head all your life." to which I agreed. I sat there and mused for a minute and then went "You know, I almost wish that you had told me 'Your worthless, useless, and kick me out of here." She just nods and goes "Yeah, that would just validate all those negative feelings" I told her that it almost would make me feel better, I know how to deal with that. She just goes "Yeah, well I'm not interested in that part of you. I 'm here to support you."

So today, T told me that she was taking vacation next week, and she asked me if she had mentioned that yet. I said "T, you've told me that the past 2 weeks."

'Tis often said many people get in the profession because they are mental and trying to "figure out" themselves. I'm quite sure my previous T fits in that category. My current one has her issues too, but is way more stable than most folks, so I cut her some slack. I have noticed a number of psychs & neuropsychs I've known are narcissistic and that was the least of their problems. Look they are human too just like us. Nobody's perfect.

![]() My T was once describing how she hurt her leg while doing a yoga headstand, and she said, "I'm an idiot." I stayed silent and just smiled, but I felt like saying, "Oh, T - you're not an idiot, don't say that about yourself!" ![]() |

in case you re still interested TrespassersWill, exposure therapy is where someone is distressed or triggered or afraid of some particular thing and the T helps them literally face that thing in a safe environment so that they learn its not frightening/distressing/whatever.
so if someone with OCD has a compulsion to make everything neat, then T's hair sticking up out of place would be something that would distress them. it being in the T's office though which is a safe environment means that they can work on that distress and try to get past it. thats exposure therapy. then they go home having conquered that particular compulsion that time and maybe being better able to deal with their compulsions in general. i hope this has explained it a bit! ![]() |

I like the look my t gets when she's thinking hard about something. . .she cocks her head to the side, glances up, and squints her eyes. it makes me feel good that she's trying so hard to think of something to help me.
I also think her style of dress is cute/funny. . .i call it "business with a twist!" Like she'll dress up in a real serious business-like way with dress slacks and a blouse. . .but then she'll wear these bright shouting printed tights with it. Or she'll look all professional but she'll wear these glasses with pink rhinestones all around the frames. It endears her to me. I really like it. |

My T likes to do sessions with people where he walks around the block w/them, esp if they're ADD or anxious. I don't like to walk and talk, b/c I can only focus on one thing at a time, except for when I'm manic.
He also doesn't wear any shoes most of the time and sits w/his legs tucked under him on the chair. It's kind of strange, but I guess endearing. Only once did he try to sneak in part of his lunch during my session, but it was only for a minute. So I didn't find it too rude. It's like, book a half an hour for yourself dude!

Oh, another cute thing my t did. I was talking about how i need to start exercising, and during the discussion she mentioned pushups. I told her they were hard, so she asked me, "Do you know how to do girl push-ups?" I gave her this questioning look like, "Heh?" So she got down on the floor and showed me.
