I am late to this thread! Jeeezz....such a great thread! Where have I been? The reponses are so good to read.

I so appreciate the posts about everyone's t's. And like Deli said, Tree- keep talking! And Deli! Keep talking! I dont ever read anything too personal about anyone's t that could identify them. And it is pretty anonymous here.

Now, that said, I have been saying pretty negative things about my t. She has cared for me, helped me in so many ways, seen my family, really cared about the details of my children's lives, got me to go on medication etc on and on and on. And she has a really strong downside to her. Her training is either stricly behavioral or analytic or whatever and she cant help me. She can be rude, rough and bring her crap into the t room. But all things considered, I feel HORRIBLY guilty talking about her here. Horribly. But it seems I had no choice. What has been going on in therapy is doing more harm than good at this point. And i dont say that lightly. It is what it is. And without talking about her here I dont see that I would have moved on. I woudnt have made any move. Hearing (uh, reading) stories about what good therapy and good therapist/patient realtionships looks like enabled me to go after something more/better. I hope I find it, but for sure that is what your postings have done for me!

I like that. I do not feel it is my role to tell people why I go to therapy or what I get out of it, etc. If someone knew I was seeing a therapist, and asked me advice because they were wondering if it might be helpful to them, I would definitely tell them I found it valuable. I do like the PT forum because everyone here is more likely to understand the unique dynamics of therapy. It is great to have this place to share. Recently, I got my hair cut and the young man cutting my hair mentioned to me something about "his therapist." I didn't pursue this, but remember feeling more warmly towards him, like he is part of the same "club" I belong to.

NOBODY I know in real life is in therapy. Most of the people I know think therapy is for the seriously mentally ill, which apparently I am

I'm not sure I know anyone in therapy either, so it was nice to meet this hair cutter guy. It was kind of like a, "hey, I'm not alone!" moment.

(Well, I take that back, I do know someone else in therapy--my daughter. )
