I'm going to ask my T tomorrow if she's ever considered getting a big dry erase board for us to use in session. If you've ever seen the T.V. show "House", you can see that the doctors consult and try to figure out a diagnosis of a patient by writing down all the ideas and then erasing some and then cross referencing others.

I can see myself standing at the board writing word diagrams or bubbles as I try to sort out my feelings. If you've ever done brainstorming activities in a group or with a software program you know how effective it can be.

Has anyone ever done that in therapy?

And so you obviously find it useful. Great - then it's not a strange concept for therapists. Maybe there's one already in the office and I never noticed it.

My T has a big whiteboard too and we use it often....for making pros and cons lists, for writing thoughts, listing feelings, etc.
I like I because it helps me stay focused and keep my thoughts oranized, and I also like it because when she I writing I feel like it takes the focus off me for a while. So it helps me think.

It sounds like a good idea!

My T used to make me write some concepts on paper (even if now it's being a while since the last time we did this).

Certainly a board would be more convenient.

My T has a little dry erase board that I can hold on my lap.

Sometimes I doodle on it. Sometimes he sits with me and I write things that are too hard to say...and then I can erase them right away after he reads them and it makes me feel better.

Whenever he goes on vacation, he waits until I have a session so I can write his upcoming vacation dates on it, because I like to write them. I usually add a snarky note that we laugh about and erase. Weirdly, that's one of my favorite things that he does
