This is what I wanted to say:

Therapy Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!
You make yourself vulnerable to your feelings and express/explain them to someone else. You then get to say goodbye and have your heart ripped out of your chest.

God help me find another person to fill that hole. Perhaps I am that person? - IMO there truly is no other person that could fill that role.

Having support is great but it SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when you have to 'let it go'. I'm going to miss having her to lean on even thought I know I can stand on my own.

Another two weeks before my next appt and I'm going to tell her the above. I couldn't even look at her at the end before I left.

This is so painful!

Ending therapy can be very hard, just like changing jobs or moving, and having to let go of friends or teachers/mentors or coworkers one enjoyed as friends. But if therapy is "successful" then it will be a good thing too, like getting a better job or moving on in school or life. I terminated therapy five years ago after 9 years and it has worked well; I'm doing great and though I miss my therapist as I would anyone else I really enjoyed/cared for, I understand about life/me not standing still and I've met and come to know and love other people, not taking my therapist's place, but alongside her and all the other friends and loved ones I've had in the last 60 years.

Just found this and it really touched me. The pain you feel is so real. I think I read that you are stopping therapy due to insurance?

Squiggle I'm ending therapy for two reasons. One is I am coming to a close on issues that I have had (I feel very much at peace and if you 'saw me' three years ago you would seriously not even recognize me not from just a physical perspective but a positive energy I never felt before). However I feel like I'm going to leave therapy in the coming months and something will 'happen' and I won't be able to see her because of reason two - not having any insurance on August 1st. She has already told me recently that she thinks I am doing great and I can phase out or down as I wish. She hasn't pressured me at all. I've gone from going every week to every other week and it's been OK except for the waiting part.

Thanks for listening.

I just had a correspondance with my T. I needed to tell her something so I left her a voice mail on Friday night. I recieved an email from her saying she got my message and wanted to hear about my race (ran my first 5k).

I told her it went great and gave her a list of questions I had for my next appt. and in closing I told her I really like her but therapy sucks

- I hope I don't get in trouble for that one. I'm sure it's just me putting up my 'defenses'.

geez: Your situation fits in perfectly with the way I feel right now!!! Did you see my thread: what good is it to feel close to your T? Therapy is painful, but leaving therapy is even more painful! Sometimes it's okay if you are ready. That actually happened to me twice! Other times it hurts terribly even if you ARE ready.

Perna, I think leaving a T is MORE than like leaving a friend or a job or school. At least to some of us. It hurts much, much more.

geez, you have until August. I suggest using the time to tell your T anything you want, including how much you think therapy sucks! Tell her the good things, the bad things, and find out if you can contact her when you're finished if you want or need to.
Thanks for this!

She responded to my 'therapy sucks' email and said it made her smile - I did say other things not just that therapy sucked.
