What brings me joy....

-The great outdoors (especially the mountains)
-Singing in choir (especially large pieces)
- The 8 month old I nanny for (especially right as he relaxes and falls asleep, or learns a new skill- he just started waving)
- Playing the music loud in my car to a good song.
- laughing with real friends.
- playing with dogs (don't have any right now)
- talking to my roommate
- reading a good book
- going somewhere without hitting red lights.
- someone remembering me.
- going on a roller coaster
- springboard diving
- downhill skiing
- watching a camp fire
- going on a hike
- swimming in a mountain lake
- backpacking
- not having to cook for myself.
- having a job
- helping others

ok, that's all for now.
Thanks for this!

Right now, it's the fact that I discovered that I can get a 44oz cup of crushed ice from the gas station across the street for 15 cents. I love ice. Now I get it every day.

Thank you for starting this thread! I'm struggling right now, and it's good to remember the things that bring me joy...

Sitting outside watching the dogs play
hiking
music
a good training session with my performance dog
watching the old dog sleep
writing
organizing things (more satisfaction than joy, but it works)
finding a really good bargain on something I want to buy
sunsets
flowers

That's what I also said lol!! I find it hard to think of anything that really brings me joy when my T asks. I often think of them as things that are positive that should bring me joy but don't sometimes.

A List of 100 is a lot but break it down in to thinking 10 lists of 10 things.

Some of mine would be:

~ my niece and nephew
~ my pets
~ chocolate
~ a good book
~ a specific comedian I like from the uk
~ when someone praises me
~ celine dion
~ going on holiday
~ shopping
~ when I get something nice in the mail
~ fluffy socks (Lol)
~ when I do something for someone and I see their face light up
~ being able to drive
~ pizza
~ strawberry milkshake
~ watching movies I like

Thats just some, I didnt even think I could come up with that many lol! I guess simple things can make us at least feel better, even if it's not exactly "joy" that they bring.

Thanks for this!

Good question. Uhm... er...

This is hard.

Wait, thought of something: A mango, a kiwifruit, a glass of passion fruit juice, and a cup of turkish coffee. Outside, early evening, in Hawaii. While listening to "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast".

I guess that's a few things, actually. Didn't realize I had it in me.

Getting some one on one time with my beautiful boys even on the days I want to pull my hair out
Running a Race
The Yoga pose called Crow
The Saturday Morning Running Group I Started
Getting together with other moms for a night out and some great conversation.
Going out sans kids with my husband for a nice quiet dinner and Kayaking.
Waking up in the morning to a quiet house and sitting with a hot cup of coffee.
Motivating people to get their bodies moving and putting themselves at the top of the list.

I definitely feel more joy in my life than when I started this thread. Here's some more:

My Therapist's Laugh
Music
Birds in the sky and in the trees
Not 'needing' therapy, but wanting therapy
Having hope
Making my dreams come true

Maybe this is a good thread to plug the book recommended by my T called Awakening Joy. It's a very practical book. If anyone would like to read it and discuss it with me, PM me or go to the book club social group.

rainbow_rose, I love your list! I posted in the book club forum but off the top of my head:

My new grandchild
Music
Bodies of water, especially with waves
Mountains
A good book that keeps me up all night
My writing when it touches others
My T's smile
Pretty scenery
Pretty flowers
Chocolate
Kids singing in a choir

I just saw that the first time I posted here I had a much longer list! Those are still true too.
Thanks for this!

I must have missed this one the first time around too:

Nothing brings me more joy that listening to the loving banter between my three sons. They are hilarious. We are SO blessed that they truly enjoy each others' company. There is no way to sit and listen to them without getting a huge smile on my face.

A close 2nd is when my students start feeling comfortable enough with me that they start discovering my quirks and picking on me. That ability to laugh with each other in the classroom is the reason I keep going back year after year. I love those kids. We have a lot of fun together.
Thanks for this!
