Deb,

I'm confused. Is your family therapist, also a counselor at your school?

In addition to Jane's question, do you want to tell us what was horrible about the session? You don't have to, of course, but if you want to get it off your chest, we're here.

I'm sorry your session didn't go so well. I know it's hard to face people after a bad session, but try to hang in there.

Well, my family therapist is at my school because its a theraputic school in new jersey. Along with my individual therapist, shes luckily on my side and always agrees and listens to me..haha. Well, my family session went bad because my mom just completely ripped apart me inside and out during the session. And then i started to cry, because, she blames me for EVERYTHING POSSIBLE that happens in our lives. Shes screaming at me right now too, and she blames me for everthing, and i just got off the phone with my dad, he blames me and tells me to chill after he doesnt even know what went on and he doesnt even live with me. my parents are divorced.

life sucks

I'm sorry life sucks for you. I know it's hard living with a parent when you don't get along. I used to have problems living with my mom. I had problems when my dad was around, too. He died, so for a while after that, it was just me and her. Can I ask how old you are?

I can't imagine actually having my parents in a therapy session. I just think I would need to get the heck out of there. So, I can at least imagine that it would be hard especially since you say that they blame you for everything. Please try to talk about it to someone and hang in there. (hug)

yeah.. but also, how great to have a therapist that is bringing family dynamics out into the open.. I think in the long run, you will be the winner for doing this! TC

I'm here in southern NJ. fam. therapy was horrible... So, you have a couple more years before you're 18. Then you'll be able to insist on seeing your psych alone, and your parents won't have any rights to your records or information between you and the psych. I know it feels like a long time, but we're here in the meantime (and beyond) when you need to rant about your life. fam. therapy was horrible...

I'm so sorry Deb. ((((Deb))))

Family therapy is hard. Often everyone feels blamed for things. Sorry it's not going well right now.
